Senior Full Stack Engineer

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to join HSBC Technology.

The Hybrid Integration Platform (HIP) is a framework of on-premises and cloud-based capabilities that enables execution, interoperability and secure integration of multi-cloud workloads.

 

Mission Statement for HIP:

Connecting People, Process and Technology to simplify consumption of Internal Cloud Solutions & Infrastructure Services while maintaining consistency with external cloud strategies.

 Goals for HIP:

  • Deliver a cohesive set of integration software (middleware) products, ecosystems and platforms enabling users to develop, secure and govern integration flows connecting diverse applications, systems, services and data stores
  • Enable rapid API creation/composition and lifecycle management to meet the requirements of a range of hybrid integration use cases
  • Connect a variety of technology building blocks, from one or more providers, which are managed as a cohesive, federated and integrated whole
  • Deliver the following frameworks/capabilities:
    • On-premises application and data integration platforms, such as ESBs, integration brokers, IBM Cloud Pak, message oriented middleware and the likes.
    • Platform as a service (PaaS/iPaaS/aPaaS)
    • Containers as a service (CaaS/KaaS)
    • Enterprise Integration Platform as a Service
    • Full life cycle API management platforms/frameworks (APIM)
    • Managed File Transfer, Grid computing, Directory and Runtime services (Web tech)

Responsible For:

  • Design and develop end to end solutions for infrastructure technologies automation for web and application products, covering the on-premise and modern container Infrastructure.
  • Design and develop automation around installation, management and operational functions as well as migrations from existing older installs of these products.
  • Design and develop continuous integration and delivery pipeline with DevSecOps to streamline and secure the quality of delivery.
  • Review and design the products to ensure the latest compliance and security rules are met.
  • Support and provide guidance on any compliances and vulnerability incidents.
  • Collaborate and communicate with customer and stakeholders and other DevOps teams.
  • Maintain and enhance automation tools.
  • Support and provide guidance to users on adoption of technologies.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues hosting infrastructure across DEV, UAT, Production, Contingency environments.

Qualifications

  • Excellent in CI/CD & DevOps methodologies
  • Experience with Kubernetes/Docker/Helm/Istio/Gateway is a must
  • Strong Monitoring and Alerting – AppDynamics
  • Experienced in Java
  • CI/CD tools GIT/Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, Maven
  • Strong Knowledge about API design standards, patterns and best-practices especially Swagger and OpenAPI 3.0, REST, SOAP, JSON, Microservices etc.
  • Knowledge of authentication, authorization of services via OAuth 2.
  • Knowledge of API Gateway (e.g. Kong, Spring Cloud, Apigee)
  • JavaScript (NodeJS, ReactJS, Angular), HTML5 (nice to have).
  • CI/CD tools GIT/Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, Maven.
  • Working knowledge with Oracle, PostgreSQL or Mongo DB databases.
  • Solid understanding of Agile testing discipline, e.g. TDD / BDD and experience applying these principles.
  • Strong agile/scrum development experience
  • Strong background working with Linux/UNIX environments.

This role will primarily be London site based but some travel may be required.
