Job Summary:
As a Senior Financial Accounting Analyst in Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED), you will help shape Disney’s future in the company’s newest and most dynamic segment. Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams into one global organization. DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network and engineering operations, sales, advertising, data, and certain key technology functions worldwide for the Company's content engines. DMED also manages operations of the Company's streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Hotstar; and domestic broadcast and cable television networks.
Responsibilities:
- Primary subject matter expert of the revenue cycle for Domestic content markets for TV Distribution COE (Center of Excellence)
- Support International deal management teams’ transition to the new content rights system and maintain reconciliations to the accounting Front of House system
- Prepare quarterly close package including balance sheet and P&L, along with Episodic content variance explanations versus forecast and prior year results
- Partner with deal management and planning teams to properly manage domestic SVOD, PayTV, and Free TV/Basic Cable businesses, accounting for related revenue and expenses
- Calculate quarterly ASC 606 Domestic PayTV & FreeTV broken window & step up revenue transactions and assist with reporting disclosures
- Leverage systems to drive efficiencies on deliverables
- Assist with all internal and external audits (PwC, Sox, MA, Talent Audit, etc…)
- Work on ad/hoc projects as they arise
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or financial reporting
- CPA
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and internal controls
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, basic IF formulas, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be an excellent team player who possesses strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Self-driven, takes initiative
- Exhibit a willingness to be adaptable and flexible
Preferred Qualifications:
- Entertainment Industry Experience
- Previous experience in revenue management department
- Experience working with SAP
- Experience in variance analysis and utilizing reporting tools
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred Education
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
