Job Summary:

Retail Accounting is the group is primarily responsible for managing the accounting and reporting for The Disney Store brick and mortar stores, Disney e-commerce, and merchandise wholesale businesses. In addition to management reporting processes, the team is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s key controls. Retail Accounting also partners with various stakeholders in Finance and Operations to analyze financial results.

Responsibilities:

The position will be primarily responsible for the following key tasks:

  • Accounting and analysis for inventory, including gross margin, COGS, obsolescence, shrink, and mark out of stock and merchandise payables
  • Present results of analyses to management, including obsolescence reserve and freight and duty
  • Responsible for monitoring system interfaces with the front of house systems and general ledger
  • Drive efficiencies through continuous review and improvement of existing processes
  • Serve as a resource to others for accounting questions related to inventory and supply chain processes
  • Support Manager on special projects and initiatives, which requires partnership with cross functional teams including Finance, Corporate (e.g. Legal, Tax), IT, Planning, and Inventory Control, to ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP
  • Actively participate in Controllership and Company initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of US GAAP Financial Statements
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated partnering, influencing, and communication skills up and down the organizational structure to convey key elements in a concise and positive manner
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work proactively and independently
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, and continuous process improvement skills
  • Proven computer proficiency in Excel
  • SAP or other Enterprise accounting systems preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CPA, or equivalent
  • Retail and/or supply chain experience desire

Additional Information:

  • Highly proficient in analyzing financial data in Microsoft Excel
  • Highly proficient in communicating financial results in Microsoft Word
  • Ability to thrive in an environment that is both strategic and creative, and which requires rapid learning, multitasking and prioritizing under tight deadlines
