As a member of the finance team you will be supporting the agency in protecting the public from serious and organised crime. We are looking for a senior finance officer to join our Finance Team.

Job description

As a G4 Senior Finance Officer you will manage a team or a set of processes within the Finance Department that provide accounting support to the wider business to help the NCA deliver its business objectives.

The role will require working closely with colleagues from across Finance and developing productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will be expected to present complex information in a concise and understandable way to both finance and non-finance colleagues and identify potential risks, opportunities and other consequences associated with particular scenarios. Your role may also oversee the maintenance and development of the NCA Financial Applications including training and awareness for users and all elements of transactional reporting.

Officers may be required to travel to sites / meetings throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• To manage a team or a set of processes within the Finance Department, responsible for providing management / financial accounts / systems support to an area in the business (as designated).

• Support the Finance Management Team to help business areas develop budget and savings proposals to inform the negotiations on future budget delegations.

• Provide effective and timely financial and management reports, in line with business requirements and both statutory and regulatory duties, including supporting documentation to audit standard, ensuring that NCA complies with general accounting standards and NCA’s corporate governance requirements.

• Produce monthly variance analyses as required, ensuring corrections and changes to actual costs, forecasts and budgets are identified and accurately reflected on the finance system.

• Provide financial advice to budget holders and project leads as required.

• Develop an understanding of the financial system within the NCA and the relationships between the various systems and tools so that accurate and consistent information is produced.

• Ensure the quality, secure handling and dissemination of data/information, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and a duty of care in line with NCA policy.

• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to foster collaborative working.

• To manage issues relating to the performance and conduct of officers in line with the NCA values.

• To manage/coach and develop staff (as required)

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

• Level 4 finance qualification with AAT or CCAB or equivalent..

  • Experience of completing financial transactions, such as journals, accruals and reconciliations accurately and on time ensuring that a robust audit trail is maintained.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to quantify and manipulate complex financial data.
  • Technical understanding of finance systems, processes and control environments.
