The Opportunity
As a Senior Fabric Technologist, you'll be responsible for introducing fabric management into our garment manufacturing process, supporting ASOS in moving from a reactive to a strategic and proactive process. You'll focus on development, testing and approval of fabric qualities for our Sportswear ranges, at the development stage, to help us to reduce lead times, increase efficiency and secure adherence to ASOS' fabric quality standards.

What you’ll be doing…
You’ll be responsible for implementing a robust Fabric Management System for Sportswear departments with best practices incorporated within supply base to increase customer trust and confidence in our brand through quality consistency across all fabric qualities
Introducing a Fabric Development function by working together with Design, Buying and Sourcing and oversee the fabric approval process
Overseeing developments, filter newness in fibres / yarns / dyestuff technologies
Deliver ACFT (ASOS certified fabric technologist) fabric management training to suppliers empowering them to self-approve and support speed to market.
Managing an approved core fabric qualities library
Ensuring that there is high quality and consistency on the global manufacturing scale by using approved core fabrics for bulk production
Working closely with the wider Fabric Compliance & technical team, you’ll support in formulating strategy to deliver “fast response, right first time†fabrics.
Working with the wider Fabric Technical team to formulate and implement a preferred Mill Fabric strategy, to gain transparency and ensuring fabric quality meets customer satisfaction.
Understand the true cost of fabric and leverage our scale through group negotiation to support business savings in collaboration with sourcing, buying, design and merch teams. .
Using a Mill Accreditation system, build partnerships with the best yarn & fabric mills
We’d love to meet someone with…
Experience and in-depth knowledge of Sportswear fabrics and performance
Previous experience of working for a reputable Sportswear brand or supplier
An excellent eye for fabric and technical detail
Proven multi-disciplinary product experience, within laboratory and retail settings
Great team working skills and a collaborative approach
Confidence in building relationships with various stakeholders across the business
Highly motivated, with proven experience in driving key objectives at pace
