Colgate-Palmolive Company is searching for a Senior Engineer to join our Device plus Chemistry team to develop novel product solutions for oral care devices from initial concept through transfer to manufacturing by working with a cross-functional team of internal and external subject matter experts in Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Industrial Design.
What you will do
- Lead the development of novel device designs and product structures based on concept and market needs
- Conduct prototype evaluations
- Assess the feasibility of design concepts
- Manage the 3D printing processes
- Design complex mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings to aid component manufacture
- Define product requirements, and create multiple initial concepts and prototypes and make design adjustments where
necessary - Proactively participate in the device innovation process, and product improvement and adaptation opportunities. Build and nurture connections between internal local and global innovation teams, as well as explore and build a network of external innovation and engineering partners
- Execute the device plus chemistry product development process in conjunction with team chemists and others by designing, prototyping, validating, and optimizing devices
- Partner with cross-functional teams, generate required product documentation including performance and material specifications, testing plans and reports, in support of safety and regulatory compliance processes
- Participate in theproduct transfer process to manufacturing
- Present to management, marketing teams, and R&D peers on various subjects, including engineering concept diagrams and renderings, rapid prototypes and demonstrations, experimental data, and test results, etc.
- Take responsibility for aspects of engineering project management timelines, related development budgets, and with a focus on reduced cost of goods at an early stage of concept development
- Generate and document intellectual property opportunities through the creation of invention records and support of patent applications
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Require Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering
- A minimum of 8 years work experience
- A minimum of 4 years experience in the development of consumer and/or medical/diagnostics devices
- Expert knowledge of SolidWorks
- Experience with the design of injection molded components
- Knowledge of volume production and quality control to ensure product robustness (stability and reliability) and manufacturability
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering with a preferred focus on Mechanical Design and Industrial Design
- Data and statistical analysis using tools such as Minitab (or similar)
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance systems
