We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer join HSBC Technology.

The Hybrid Integration Platform (HIP) is a framework of on-premises and cloud-based capabilities that enables execution, interoperability and secure integration of multi-cloud workloads.

The Senior Engineer will work within the Telecommunication Services - Global DDI team and will be a subject matter expert on at least one piece of Network topology.

The Senior Engineer is responsible for the provision and/or 2nd/3rd line design / support of DDI services on an international network utilising numerous DDI technologies. This can include both the development of new functions and facilities and the on-going systems support of live systems.

This may involve working as a Lead technical specialist on projects involved in planning, research, evaluation and design of network infrastructure.

Experience
 

  • General experience in IT support
  • A broad understanding of IT hardware, software, operations and networks
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver within limited timescales
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communication, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical skills to quickly assess situations, their impact and options for resolution.
  • To be able to prioritise faults, estimate fix times.
  • Good team player skills which rely on honest open communication and reliability of individuals to strive to deliver an excellent service to the customer
  • Ability to manage and prioritise service delivery within a diverse and constantly changing technical environment.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to influence peer group good negotiation skills.
  • Understand and interpret complex business and IT requirements
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing demands for time and resources
  • Have the ability to understand and interpret complex business and IT requirements and assess future

Requirements

The Senior Engineer  will have:
 

  • Knowledge of HSBC systems desirable
  • Overall understanding of Network services and the supporting infrastructure to be able to prioritise work load
  • Good Understanding of  Network hardware and Software and general IT Support principles
  • Have sufficient knowledge of ITID understanding policy, processes, procedures and systems deployed.
  • In depth knowledge of best practice within a support environment.
  • Practical experience with one or more of the following: DDI (DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management), QIP, Infoblox, efficientIP, runIP, Nokia AMS/AMM, F5 GTM / Big-IP DNS, SQL, Unix, Scripting (VBA, Python, Shell)
  • Have excellent  knowledge of the project lifecycle.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for IT investments and alternatives in the language of the business.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to find logical solutions to problems.
  • A ‘common sense’ approach
  • Proven ability to prioritise against competing demands.
  • Ability to actively participate in Crisis response and recovery.
  • Experience working within a large corporate / global technology environment
  • A track record of being a ‘self starter’ and driving their own performance, development and learning
  • Have a good understanding of strategic planning, including managing change, managing processes and business cases
  • Be a subject matter expert on a major aspect of Network Infrastructure.

Working from Home on a Hybrid model with occasional travel to site either Sheffield or London
