Overview:
The Mechanical Engineering team is increasing capabilities to support projects in the Energy and other business units of Bechtel Global. There is a vacancy in the Vadodara office for professional with experience in Thermal & Mechanical Design of Fired Heaters. Engineer, qualified to degree level with minimum of twelve years’ industrial experience is required for this position. Candidate should have worked for execution of Basic/Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM, EPC modes of execution for Indian and International projects.
The Mechanical Engineer will report to the GL/APE/PEM and duties will include the following:
Review of Process package for completeness of Process and Mechanical related data
Review of PFDs, PIDs, MSDs, Data sheets. Commenting/review on the same for completeness
Review of specifications and documentation from Licensor / Client / PMC
Develop technical specifications for Equipment/Package
Interaction with Global office / Home office (abroad)
Participating in IDC process. Interaction with Engineering disciplines, Clients / PMC, Bidders / Vendors
Design, MTO estimation, preparation of MRQs. Review of Quotes, analyzing deviations, raising of TQs, TBEs, MRPs
Review of VPs ((General Arrangement, Calculation, Detail drawings, API Datasheets, Procedures etc.)
Support project/proposal activities
Implement/Capture Lesson Learnt
Resolving Vendor/Site queries. Interaction with Inspection Agencies, Expeditors, other agencies for delivery of Equipment/Packages
Providing Inputs/Review for Progress reporting
Handling team issues
Supporting the project through construction and commissioning phases
Experience in detailed engineering for working on EPC/EPCM, FEED and other modes of project execution
Specific capabilities required for the role include experience in:
Thermal and Mechanical design for various Fired Heaters & Reformers of Oil & Gas, Refinery and Petrochemical plants. High proficiency in one with moderate proficiency in other (Mechanical and Thermal design) is acceptable.
Selection, conceptual/basic, detail engineering for Fired heaters and Reformers.
Knowledge of Fired Heater associated equipment like Burners, Air Preheater, FD/ID Fans, Damper / SOB etc.
Ability to interpret & review vendor process, APH & firing P&IDs.
Review of APH layout and structure design. Knowledge and experience on STAAD analysis and review will be an added advantage.
Hands on experience on manual calculations and working on software FRCN-5PC or equivalent.
Knowledge for different Process Licenser specific design requirements and construction features
Ability to optimize size and design and overall configuration of the Heater / Reformer Package.
Drawing overall scope of work and supply, package boundaries, interfaces, inputs from/to EPC Contractor, Package supplier documentation. Aware of scope of other Engineering disciplines.
Knowledge and experience in other equipment like Thermal Oxidizer / Incinerator, SCR/SNCR, Flares, Waste Heat Boiler, HRSG & Package Boiler will be an added advantage.
Ability to quickly provide data for carrying out preliminary detailing / estimation by Mechanical and other Engineering disciplines.
Understand various types of materials to be used for different services and review of vendor proposed materials, analyse deviations sought and respond timely.
Knowledge of Design using Codes & Standards - API 530, API 535, API 560, ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and other supporting sections of ASME
Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes and standards like API, ASME, ANSI, AISC, BS, BIS, OISD, Licensor & Client specifications
Familiarity with HAZOP, SIL reviews, model reviews.
Trouble shooting, association with resolution of Client and site queries.
Knowledge of engineering work planning and schedules, related construction practices
Knowledge & assessment of Suppliers capabilities
Ability to coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and other stake holders including other offices.
Broad working knowledge of the principles and practices of executing large projects
Good oral as well as written communication skills are essential
Experience: 10 to 15 years
Education required (minimum):
Degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Candidate will also be required to:
Plan and conduct independent work within the Vadodara Execution Unit, using sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Ensure project/proposal activities are carried with sound engineering practices and of desired quality within schedule and cost.
Interact with Global offices, execute work on workshare mode.
Participate in Value Engineering, design and cost optimization.
Coordinate technical issues with other departments on projects including constructability requirements and reviews.
Review and develop standard documentation for use on projects
Training of Engineers
Travel to support activities at construction sites, supplier’s works or in other engineering offices.
The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of Global Bechtel team and should have basic flair for working with personnel of different nationalities. Should have a good proficiency for spoken and written English language. Willing to travel to International offices and sites on business trips/assignments.
Candidate to mention their experience in Refinery/Petrochemical units, Off-sites and Utilities, indicating details of Equipment/Packages dealt with and extent of Engineering/involvement by self.
Candidate to mention valid visa available including detail of Type, expiry date. Denial of USA visa earlier at any stage need to be indicated.
