Overview
The Sr SAP Basis Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, configuration, implementation, testing and transition to steady state support of Infrastructure such as: network, telecommunication, server, storage, or software across the enterprise. They will partner with peer engineering teams on best practices, process, standards, and configuration management. The role is responsible for delivering solutions that are stable, secure, scalable, and cost effective, as well providing escalation support to the administrators.
Specialized Skills and Technologies
Professional level experience with one or more of the following SAP applications; SAP ECC6, ChaRM, SAP PI, SAP BW, S/4HANA, BOBJ, SAP HANA, CRM, CLM, QGM, SAP Enterprise Portal and Solution Manager
Professional level experience supporting an SAP application on an Oracle, HANA and/or SQL Server database
Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with team members, peers and customers
Expertise in administering/migrating ABAP, HANA and Java stacks
Professional experience in managing availability and performance tuning of SAP systems including underlying database and O/S
Professional experience of transport management of changes across the SAP landscape via QGM/ChaRM
Exposure to managing SAP in the cloud
Primary Responsibilities
Evaluate vendor supplied hardware, components, and software packages for fit and performance and makes recommendations to IT management
Diagnose, Isolate, and modify and/or debugs vendor-supplied utilities and packages performing problem resolution to hardware and software problems as required
Maintain technical documentation for telecommunications, network, server, storage, and system software applications
Participate in on call rotation
Research, evaluate and recommend network-related software and hardware products and services
Perform capacity and resource planning for network systems
Assess network risks and perform contingency planning
Provide input to supplier management team to help establish the telecommunications and network-related vendor service agreements
Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications and network systems (hardware and software)
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve technical communications and network issues (tier two support)
Provide input to supplier management team to help manage telecommunications and network-related vendor service level agreements
Stay up to date on telecommunications, networks, and network-related technologies
Serve as a technical resource for infrastructure initiatives that require telecommunications or network expertise
Coach and mentor others, especially more junior Engineers
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Technical Degree in related filed or a combination of work experience and education
Seven (7) + years in an Infrastructure or technical function
Deep experience in telecommunications and networking environments, security, storage, server, and other technologies that match SGWS’s infrastructure landscape
Deep experience with design, implementation, configuration, tuning and optimization of technologies within SGWS’s landscape
The ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements including excellent verbal/written communication skills
Must possess good problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
Strong team player who can work across multiple functional areas and disciplines
Capability to understand SGWS’ application portfolio as well as how the different systems contribute to daily business operations
Familiarity with ITIL concepts, preferred ITIL Foundation certified
