Position Summary:
As part of NS&E’s Electrical Engineering team, you will be working in a diverse group providing deliverables for multiple projects as assigned. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will require travel to project offices on short term assignemnts and/or business trips.
Responsibilities:
- This role will support design development of Electrical systems and equipment for various projects in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements, using independent judgment with oversight by the project supervisor.
- Develop design drawings and other design documents.
- Perform system analysis and equipment sizing calculations.
- Prepare design and equipment specifications.
- Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management.
- Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Level One: BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 6 years of relevant experience.
- Level Two: BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 9 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to design drawings, calculations, and specifications for Electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building Electrical systems.
- US citizenship is required.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, such as the NEC and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
- Broad knowledge of the application of Electrical engineering design principles.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and layouts.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing and cable sizing.
- Previous experience of power systems load modeling and analysis tools, such as ETAP, CAD 2D and cable designing and routing software.
- Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
- Travel to project locations to perform electrical designs with team. This will include short term assignements and/or business trips.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level One: MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Level Two: MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
- Knowledge in use of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
- Prior work experience in multi-project environment and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.
- Passed Engineering in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering Examination in USA (Electrical Engineering).
- Hands-on experience using Revit MEP, including Architectural interface, drawing generation, view templates, design options, and phasing.
- Hands-on experience using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Basic knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design.
