Senior Director – Brunswick Financial Services

Role Summary

We are seeking a leader to join Brunswick’s Financial Services (BFS), identify and prioritize meaningful growth opportunities, and lead the execution of this accelerated growth plan. This role will report to the CFO for Business Acceleration and be located in Brunswick’s headquarters in Mettawa IL. This senior level role requires a thoughtful point of view about the financial services space in the marine industry, as well as the ability to develop and drive industry specific solutions into the market. This role would drive the businesses at scale, foster relationships with senior marine industry executives, and work closely with other Divisions within Brunswick on strategic opportunities. The role requires expertise within the financial services space in marine or similar adjacent industries and a passion to transform the customer experience for all end users of our products and services.

As Senior Director, you will provide leadership, direction, and general management of the current suite of BFS products/businesses.  This role will be responsible to ensure each BFS business, their products and people are organized to maximize growth, sales, and profitability.  A successful leader will need to be the key strategist partnering closely with key stakeholders on short- and long-term business planning, annual budget, investment strategies, and identifying new growth opportunities.  A growth mindset, compelling communication skills, and strategic thought process would be the pillars to success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Build 3–5-year strategic plans for BFS with emphasis on new product/services development and growth of the current suite of offerings
  • Conduct fact-based, data-driven analyses of various financial services markets and companies in support of growth initiatives
  • Conduct market interviews as required in support of strategic initiatives
  • Maintain awareness and a forward-thinking approach to product development to stay ahead of the competition and the needs of the marketplace
  • Develop pro forma business case financials for strategic initiatives including marketing relationships, joint ventures, and acquisitions
  • Set and secure approval of the annual budget and maintain accurate forecasts: sales, expenses, and profitability
  • Create global sales plans and strategies to maximize growth and profitability
  • Create an environment that prioritizes excellent customer and dealer experience
  • Plan and resource operations to provide support to OEM’s, dealers, and consumers
  • Maintain solid relationships with key individuals at partner companies that support the BFS businesses
  • Establish strong dealer relationships at the senior level and oversee dealer training and performance while leading sales management and the sales process
  • Develop and conduct Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, in partnership with corporate departments, in support of strategic initiatives
  • Interact with and make presentations to various senior managers and external agencies as required
  • Allocate decision-making authority and/or task responsibility to appropriate others to maximize effectiveness
  • Assist employees in performing more effectively by setting clear objectives and clarifying expectations, providing constructive feedback, and supporting employee achievements through opportunities of growth and advancement
  • Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others, supporting the development of their skills and abilities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Financial Services area (in marine or similar industry or consulting) with strategy and business/product development responsibilities; P&L ownership preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or advances degree preferred
  • Demonstrate track record of financial management (KPIs, trends & analysis, profit & loss statements, product cost analysis, etc.) and business planning (time management, strategic planning processes, plan execution, etc.)
  • Exceptional leadership/management skills and superb oral and written communication, with seasoned presentation skills
  • Must be forward thinking and a leader of positive change in an environment that is constantly seeking opportunities to improve existing processes, create efficiencies and deliver results
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media that engages the audience
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact professionally with a broad array of internal and external parties, including members of senior management
  • Capability to provide leadership that encourages engagement, collaboration, skill development, and diversity
  • Ability to mitigate difficult conversations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods

Brunswick Financial Services houses a collection of leading dealer finance and operations service brands including floor planning from Brunswick Acceptance Corporation (USA) and Brunswick Commercial Finance (Canada), retail finance from Blue Water Finance and Mercury Repower Finance, retail insurance from Boater’s Choice Insurance, and extended product protection from Brunswick Product Protection, including both retail extended service contracts and private label limited warranties for leading boat and engine manufacturers.
