Purpose/Objective of the job

  • Trusted thought-partner for US Oncology & US commercialization leadership who provides strategic guidance and data-driven insights to help shape the most critical therapeutic-area decisions
  • A critical leader who leverages disruptive and strategic thinking to engineer greater Commercial success, improves value to our patients, and impacts near term commercial success, in support of multiple senior leaders across Commercial, Finance, VAP, and IR – ensuring that we deliver against our short & mid-term goals
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple TA-specific market research & analytics leads, and lead all alliance forecasting/scenario-planning interactions for the US in the short-mid term
  • Establish aspirational yet defendable revenue expectations for the US Oncology portfolio, ensure full transparency around global TA business risks & opportunities, and identify actionable levers to activate upside Commercial potential
  • Establish a single-source of consolidated TA ‘Commercial truth’, through a disciplined and consistent approach to seamlessly integrating Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence & Market Research insights – leading to actionable scenario-planning of potential outcomes
  • Maximize worldwide TA-specific Commercial launch success and optimize go-to-market strategies by enabling enterprise-wide sharing of key launch learnings and best practices from the US organization
  • Partner with the broader BI&A organization to create and promote a global culture of diversity & inclusion, develop exciting insight & analytic career paths, and ensure appropriate levels of technical capability and subject matter expertise exists across all levels, functions, and geographies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of >11 team members (including BMS headcount and full-time consultants) who provide strategic insight & scenario-planning guidance in direct support of the Oncology franchise
  • Work with Head of US Commercialization, & Head of Oncology - to create clear, reliable, and impactful “talking points” for both internal & external communications – including prep for all analyst meetings & conferences
  • Generate & defend all US inline/launch revenue scenarios for the Oncology portfolio in support of financial budgets, projections, and R&Os
  • Responsible for working with the BD Forecasting team to vet all US revenue valuations in support of BD transaction work across the Oncology franchise
  • Effectively collaborates with a broad set of cross-functional counterparts (including BI&A, Strategy & Operations Leads, Brand Leadership, CEC, Sales Operations, Medical, and Finance) to achieve organizational objectives
  • Translate the results of primary research and other insight-oriented data sources into forecast assumptions; when required, become involved in the design and development of market research forecast studies (i.e. demand research)
  • Provide an explanation of variance to forecast, which combines secondary data (IMS/SHS/EMR/Claims/etc) and general business insights
  • Develop and deliver clear, concise presentations that synthesize disparate data (market research, secondary data, etc.), and that demonstrates a deep understanding of the market dynamics, competition, and brand
  • Help embed and maintain a single high-performing BI&A “culture” across the team, across individual TA teams
  • Responsible for helping to adopt and fully embed new forecasting capabilities developed by the team’s Capability Lead
  • Ensure the consistent use of industry-leading forecasting approaches & methodologies across the entire product portfolio
  • Drive the effective synthesis of Analytics and Customer Insights work product through transparency, inclusiveness, and pursuit of diverse perspectives
  • Partner to create and foster an approach to developing seamless collaborative cross-functional analytics teams/and holistic cross-customer analysis
  • Understand, demonstrate, and drive adherence to all BMS operating policies

List of minimum requirements

  • Degree/Certification/Licensure
  • BA/BS required (quantitative area of study preferred)
  • MBA/other graduate degree preferred
  • 10+ Years Pharmaceutical Experience
  • Experience working in the Oncology TAs &/or launches in other TA’s
  • Ability to synthesize complex information sets & successfully communicate simply to the senior TA leaders – leading to smart & data-driven decision making
  • Experience operating successfully in a complex organizational environment
  • Experience interacting with senior management, understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their insight/ analytical information requirements
  • Extensive experience in the application of forecasting, advanced analytics, and reporting techniques to solve business problems
