Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Senior Data Delivery Lead, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

Global Risk and Compliance is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management; Financial Risk (Wholesale Market and Credit Risk, Global Risk Analytics and Retail Credit Risk), Enterprise Risk (Operational Risk, Resilience Risk, Risk Strategy) and Financial Crime Risk. Supporting the Global Businesses (Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM), Commercial Banking (CMB), Global Banking and Markets (GBM) and Global Private Banking (GPB)).

The Senior Data Delivery Lead will be based in the UK, will report into the Head of Data Strategy, Risk & Compliance based in Hong Kong, this is a senior manager position responsible for delivery of data for the Risk and Compliance functions; from requirements gathering through to impact analysis.

In this role, you will:

• Ensure that all data is delivered from trusted sources to improve process and enable automation, whilst supporting sustainable growth in a responsible manner to meet regulatory and customer needs
• Fulfil the ongoing design and implementation of the Data Requirements and Impact in support regulatory, governance and internal reporting as well as risk modelling
• Work closely with the Global Head of Data Strategy, Risk and Compliance and Governance to ensure that prioritised use cases have agreed data requirements, analysed, impact tested and delivered for the end user
•  Be responsible for producing complete and quality Data Requirement documentation, Data Analysis framework and Impact Assessment models
• Support the data understanding and usage through migration onto strategic data platforms
• Shape the development and enhancements of the Risk Data Platforms, with the objective of ensuring that data is consumed from trusted sources
•  Work closely with internal team members, process owners and external stakeholders (e.g. IT developers) to successfully deliver the respective data aspects to Risk Data Consumers
• Work closely with the Head of Data Governance to ensue any data being provisioned is managed through the pipe line efficiently and in line with any local and Group standards

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Educated to a degree level in relevant disciplines
• Relevant work experience
• Good understanding of banking operations and processes, preferably in Commercial Banking and / or Global Banking context
• A combination of applied mathematics, statistics, visualisation, data engineering. Specific domain expertise in the area of combating financial crime and / or a strong Research and Development (R&D) background an advantage
• Experience working within the Hadoop ecosystem in addition to strong technical skills in analytical languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS. Specific knowledge of Spark and / or graph theory an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficient skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with project / collaboration tools such as JIRA, SharePoint and Confluence will be advantageous
