About your role
As a member of the SMIP Comms Hub team, you will be responsible for the reviewing design documents, quality, reliability and safety of our suppliers’ products and insuring that the functional and non-functional requirements are met in conjunction with the Product managers.
- You will also be responsible for the test bench design and work closely with the Supply chain team with suppliers to ensure that this remains fit for purpose to perform IQC and Return Triage.
- You will be able to understand Design documents, GBCS, CHTS and SMETs and Zigbee specifications in detail and Service Management Processes and Procedures, ensuring effectiveness for the deployment of new Comms Hub FW and HW to ensure risks are being mitigated as well as holding discussions with stakeholders and to build relationships.
Working with the IT Application Team, Networks Team, Service Management Team, Test Teams, Support Teams and Architects, and reporting to the SMIP Senior Programme Manager, this role includes the following main responsibilities:
1. Comms Hub Electrical Engineering Manager activities
- Own the Forward and Reverse logistics test bench technical design and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements in consultation with Supply Chain.
- Review CHDS and ensure that requirement have been implemented correctly
- Read and understand design specifications and technical drawings
- Look for Continuous improvement in Processes and strategy.
- Provide expertise to build and maintain products operational documentation
- Manage day-to-day aspects of FWDL
- Competent in required project methodology
- Ensure documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored
- Works closely with relevant stake holders to ensure effective and efficient delivery of products
- Work with the supplier’s developers and designers to define and improve automation of the process where appropriate
- Submit monthly reports on the number, and report on failures the reasons and work with others to implement corrective actions
- Review HALT,ALT and production Yield to validate Availability and Probability of failure.
- Identify customer requirements
- Work to relevant standards
- Attend meetings at customer and supplier locations
- Design and conduct/witness tests
- Record, analyse and interpret data
- Propose modifications and retest products
- Prepare product documentation, write reports and give presentations
- Monitor a product in use to improve on future design.
2. Liaising with stakeholders and vendors
- Liaise with TEF SMIP CH Technical product Managers
- Liaise with TEF Service Management
- Liaise with TEF Supply chain team
- Liaise with DCC CH technical team.
- Liaise with internal PMs
3. Assuring quality
- Ensure the appropriate use of tools and processes are applied
- Provide direction and support to Team Lead managers.
- Ensure testing issues and defects are captured, recorded and raised in a timely manner and if required escalated to the Programme Test Manager, Project managers.
- Log all issues raised and track them until resolution in collaboration Product managers
Key skills
Essential experience:
- Has a detailed experience in SMIP of at least 3 years
- 5+ years of experience of working in the Energy industry
- Experience of working on complex technical solutions in a multi-vendor environment
- Experience of working in product design and development
- Detailed knowledge of GBCS,CHTS,SMETS and Zigbee SEP1.4
Desirable technical skills, attributes and experience:
- Writes well structured, clear plans and reports
- Experience in the following industries, IT, Telecoms
- Experience / a good understanding of IT systems, processes and policies
- Experience in working on Government programmes desired but not mandatory
