The Senior Cloud Software Engineer will be responsible for migrating code and functionality from the Mainframe using COBOL to AWS using a more modern languages including Go, NodeJS, Java. This individual must be forward thinking, innovative and fluid with current industry leading technology trends in the Cloud.  The individual will need to understand integration patterns and pieces of the Mainframe to support integrating technologies using REST APIs and other patterns. 

Key Responsibilities:  

·         Deliver business needs end to end from requirements to deployment into production, with well architected cloud solution. 

·         Develop patterns, frameworks and applications which enable the building of a data pipeline ecosystem. 

·         Follow best practices with an automation first approach and continuous improvement mindset. 

·         Drive reuse, engage in peer code reviews and foster innovation 

·         Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture direction and architectural standards. 

·         Collaborate in a high-performing team environment, and an ability to influence and be influenced by others  

·         Drive integration and migration of technologies (Mainframe and AWS). 

Required Experience / Qualifications:  

·         Experience with one or more of the following programming scripting languages – COBOL, GO, JVM-based languages, or Javascript, and ability to pick up new languages. 

·         Cloud solution engineering and/or architecture experience (AWS preferred) 

Desired Experience / Qualifications:

·         AWS Solution Architect Certification / AWS Developer Certification / 

·         AWS SysOps Certification a plus. 

·         Experience in performance tuning and resiliency in Cloud solutions. 

·         Deep understanding of all things “database” - schema design, optimization, scalability, etc 

·         Strong expertise with GIT. 

·         Experience creating REST API’s. 

·         Experience in building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, CloudFormation, Terraform etc.) 

·         Experience in Big Data technologies – Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Mapreduce. 

·         Proficient in self-testing of applications, unit testing and use of mock frameworks, test-driven development (TDD)
