Our Team

The Health Services Data Solution Engineering team is hiring an Architecture Senior Advisor to work across a portfolio of data and analytics projects or initiatives. The work involves understanding and driving data and analytics solution architecture, high level enterprise design patterns, design and development of enterprise data and analytics assets and platforms, architecture and data governance of platforms, and execution of proof of concepts on new software and design patterns.  Experience with implementing data platforms (data warehouse, data lake, cloud data store, and/or data fabric or mesh), data management principles, and solutioning or guiding large complex projects on is critical.  Also, experience in migrating legacy data and analytics platforms to cloud platforms, implementing machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities, and/or a variety of data architecture and strategy topics is preferred.

Core Responsibilities:

• Responsible for development, documentation, and socialization of data and analytics platform reference architectures, engineering patterns, and governance of pattern usage on the platform.

• Ensure that data management best practices are being followed when developing new data assets on enterprise data and analytics platforms.  Partner with data governance and security counterparts to industry and internal best practices are being followed to protect sensitive information.

• Participate in and coordinate project solutioning and decomposition processes (data storage, data integration, data consumption and foundational platform capability components) to support estimation and story development for project design and execution to follow. 

• Facilitate and actively participate in platform review board discussions and hel guide application/product teams through the process of following best practices and standard processes.

• Provide guidance, mentoring, and training as needed in data management, data design, data integration, and analytical consumption of data. 

• Collaborated with data modelers, data product owners, solution architects, and data engineers to effectively deliver on project needs of existing data assets, and the establishment of new data assets as necessary.

• Continuously improve operational processes for solution architecture and data engineering.  Interact with Business and IT stakeholders in defining and managing roadmaps and capability build out. Coordination, collaboration, and innovation with Solution Verticals, Data Lake teams, IT & Business Portfolios to ensure alignment of data and analytical assets with ongoing programs (cyber risk and security) and development efforts.

Ideal Candidates Will Offer:

• 7+ years experience with solution architecture or data engineering; Subject matter expertise level experience preferred in big data or machine learning in the cloud

• 3+ years experience working in Healthcare or related industry experience

• Understanding of data integration/transformation, data quality and data governance, data modeling/database design, metadata management, and analytical consumption patterns

• Experience with implementation of large-scale data lake, data warehouses, data virtualization, data fabric or data mesh platforms

• Deep cloud architecture experience with AWS or alternative cloud platforms and associated certifications

• Experience executing large scale proof of concepts, cost benefit analysis, and systems analysis to help drive future roadmap decisions and guide platform investments

• Experience in work in large complex organizations with an ability to influence large scale decisions on strategic direction of analytical and data initiatives

• Experience working in an Agile delivery environment (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Git, etc.)

This role is Flex/WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.
