Digital Business Services is a pivotal part of the Group, providing essential operational and technical support to our global businesses and helping improve customer service and efficiency. Operations, Services and Technology combines global expertise and technology to help keep us ahead of the competition.
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as Senior Business Manager, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. The Group COO office partners with the senior leadership teams across DBS and the bank to meet the Group COO's (GCOO's) strategic objectives for the organisation. The critical activities the team undertakes include:
- Engaging senior executive leadership teams across the bank (Group Executive Committee/Holdings Board members), regulators and other external bodies
- Ensuring the GCOO is fully prepared and briefed for key meetings including supplier, customer and regulator meetings, as well as providing strategic insight and support for the governance and management of DBS Board and Group Executive Committee requirements (papers / actions / updates)
- Managing the GCOO’s regulatory and legal responsibilities, including ensuring all Senior Manager Regime requirements are fully met and evidenced
The role will report to and will directly support the Head of Governance for DBS
In this role, you will:
- Work with the GCOO and other senior stakeholders to set the strategic priorities and policies of the function
- Oversee large, cross-functional, organisation-wide projects and initiatives
- Assist with the management of key performance indicators for the function
- Provide operational management support for the execution of the DBS strategy and liaison between the DBS senior leadership team, multi departmental functions and key stakeholders globally
- Proactively assimilate and understand a wide range of topics and writing succinct and accurate summaries, in short turnaround times
- Write sensitive and time critical briefing notes for the GCOO
- Proofread a range of papers across DBS functions, providing feedback and guidance to ensure all GCOO-sponsored papers are of a high quality and consistent standard
- Partner with DBS functions to review strategic opportunities to implement operating model synergies
- Leverage the wider DBS organisation including Operations, Technology, Data and Innovation to support the delivery of the GCOO’s priorities
- Provide strategic partnership with the DBS senior leadership team to drive performance and cultural change required of a high performing and agile organisation
- Proactively identify collaboration opportunities and tools, and adopting new ways of working to achieve the highest efficiency, quality standards and productivity across DBS
- Provide executive writing services for a variety of papers, including GCOO reports, strategy papers, investor meetings and regulatory responses
Qualifications
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Be educated to graduate degree level in business management related field or associated relevant business experience
- Have strong interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to succeed within a matrix management structure and build and maintain regional team relationships
- Have the ability to engage with team, colleagues and business partners collaboratively to deliver at pace
- Have excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Have excellent research capabilities, proof reading, attention to detail and presentation skills
- Have proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language
- Have excellent stakeholder management, relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills
- Have proven ability to work well under pressure, demonstrate flexibility and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and tasks that are often highly restricted, wide ranging, complex and time-sensitive
- Have proven ability to contextualise people and financial data into business activities and conclusions
- Have strong understanding of the bank and its strategy, structures and processes
- Have strong knowledge of DBS or similar functions in other organisations – functionally, operationally and financially
- Have extensive experience in banking/ financial services, preferably in a global organisation
- Have proven project management experience with an ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Have previous background of working in a matrix organisation structure; ability to persuade individuals at different levels
- Have experience of working in management consulting is advantageous
