A bit about the Team:

The Finance platform team is evolving to support substantial business growth with exciting plans for the future. The team is an increasingly important element of tech ensuring disciplined evolution, data integrity, process efficiency and control across our business & financial applications, while striving to provide our wide customer base with an excellent service.

We are continuously supporting business change, exploring innovative solutions to finance requirements and restlessly identifying improvements to existing controls, systems and processes to ensure maximum potential and benefit.

The Role:

We require an experienced Senior BI Manager with advanced BI skills gained in the finance and accounting domain to join us as part of the Finance Platform Team, responsible for managing a team of 2 developers as well as championing the technology, looking for new innovate ways to streamline and improve the reporting capabilities for the end user. 

The successful candidate will need to be able define and document business requirements, produce and validate report designs, troubleshoot problems, adapt quickly to a rapidly evolving retail environment, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across several business disciplines including Finance & IT.  It is imperative you can liaise with the business directly to understand complex solutions and then playback to senior stakeholders in non-technical terms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the design and development of Finance reports, engaging with key stakeholders to understand and translate business needs/reporting requirements
  • Work with other reporting teams across ASOS to understand best-practice, to apply to Finance
  • Design and develop reports and reconciliations with modern approaches
  • Assist the Technical Architect with the design and architecture of the BI environment
  • Build successful relationships with Finance, IT and the wider business, continuously managing stakeholder expectations
  • Monitor the performance of reports and recommend improvements

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven expert in Azure SQL database and SQL Server
  • Ability to write complex & performant SQL queries across large datasets
  • Experience of performance optimisation for SQL across large datasets specifically related to BI workloads
  • Expertise transforming large structured and unstructured datasets for BI purposes
  • Adept at applying analytic techniques and integrating ad hoc data sources
  • Excellent reporting visualisation skills
  • Understand Power BI & DAX - similar experience across other similar technologies will be considered
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to develop solutions, make decisions and implement actions for routine problems
  • History in Finance or Accounting reporting. Able to train others how to use and adapt reports focused on finances.  Must be able to demonstrate the purpose of a report and understand why it is needed

Desirable

  • Experience with Dynamics 365 for Finance or Microsoft Dynamics AX is highly desirable
  • Experience with other current Microsoft technologies, for example but not limited to: Microsoft PowerApps, Flow, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Integration Services
  • Further programming experience in VBA, C#, X++, PowerShell or any Azure technologies
  • Microsoft certifications in SQL, Dynamics or Azure.
