JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer specialising in emerging technologies and patterns to build products which define new ways of working and contribute to the next phase of company growth. You’ll be working in a distributed, agile team focussed on architecting and building our platforms for both scale and availability.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 6+ years experience writing software in a multidisciplinary team whilst;
• Delivering large well-defined tasks and solving small scope not-well-defined problems
• Contributing to writing architecture proposals
• Breaking down large problems into smaller deliverables
• Contributing to scaling engineering hiring
• Building software as part of a highly functional product team
• Experience architecting scalable, resilient data ingestion platforms
• Second nature understanding of Javascript / Typescript
• You must demonstrate 2+ years of commercial experience with Node
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (Lambda, ECS, Fargate, EventBridge, etc)
• Proven experience developing Serverless and containerised applications
• Familiar with complex asynchronous messaging flows and their application within distributed systems:
• Experience building event-driven architectures
• Practical knowledge of tracing and monitoring tools
• Practical experience writing high quality unit, integration and E2E tests
• Experience working with multiple general purpose databases and performance optimisation
• Great understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working closely with product delivery teams and stakeholders
• You work in an environment where engineers are responsible for deploying their code to production, practice ‘Infrastructure as Code’ and have experience building CI/CD pipelines
• Experience producing technical designs with consideration for scalability and security
• Experience coordinating complex deployments and database migrations
• Experience of working in an objective-driven environment
• Experience with frontend and mobile technologies such as React, React Native, and GraphQL
• Experience building a SaaS product within a startup environment

This role is available on a remote basis, or you can work from our Head Offices in London or Shirebrook.
