Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a s166 - Senior Analyst – Traded Risk Control Management, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the s166 - Senior Analyst – Traded Risk Control Management is to be a Senior individual in the Control Management team for Group Traded risk, leading the Traded Risk Control Management framework ensuring that a framework of internal controls and governance processes consistent and ensuring that appropriate control monitoring is carried out in line with FIM rules and s166 compliant. The role will be expected to provide guidance not only to other Control Management team members but also to other colleagues and stakeholders within Traded Risk on matters of successful implementation of strategic application controls which meets Regulatory requirement.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with other Traded Risk Control Managers, both at Group, Regional and Offshore to ensure that Traded Risk team based in Europe have an effective Control Management framework for the region in line with Functional Instruction Manual
  • (FIM) standards and the WMR target operating model
  • Act as risk and control Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the function. Ensure management understanding of risks, controls and accountability and the Group’s Operational Risk strategy
  • Facilitate the raising of Management Self-Identified Issues
  • Assist the department to develop Risk and Control Assessments. Facilitate annual Risk Control Assessment (RCA) workshops and ensuring RCAs are kept up to date and are embedded within the department
  • Ensure Continuous Monitoring in Traded Risk, Europe is effectively at required Op Risk standards and help Senior Stakeholders and Control Owners in their duties in that respect
  • Ensure processes within the Control Management function are efficient, robust and well-documented. Actively seek ways of improving processes and achieving cost savings
  • Provide guidance and support to Traded Risk Control Management team members
  • Advise on best practice and ensure new processes are incorporated with the appropriate controls on an ongoing basis

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Qualification in finance, accounting, operational risk, business management or project management
  • Strong change management and business analysis skills
  • Strong experience of onshore Moody's Risk Advisor (MRA) and offshore Global Service Centre (GSC) workflows and processes, including a daily Run the Business (RTB) role in such teams
  • Ability to analyse, document and present complex processes
  • Understanding of internal controls processes and best practices
  • Well-organised and able to work on several work streams concurrently
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight time-lines
  • Excellent communication skills
