Position Purpose

Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant within the Payroll and Benefits department. Responsible for payroll and benefits accounting for North America including the month-end close process. Perform account reconciliations of payroll data (deductions, employee related liabilities, and Pension/OPEB) from the source systems into SAP and monitor account reconciliation issues. Perform analysis of benefit costs versus benefit accruals. Drive resolution of process gaps and account reconciliation issues. Lead ad hoc analyses and special studies. Maintain confidentiality of compensation and other personnel data. Participate in scheduled meetings and ad hoc discussions with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities – How will you help us grow?

Perform monthly accounting close for payroll and benefits accounts in SAP ledgers, including balancing of payroll to 3rd party provider (ADP).

Manage the pension and OPEB accounting process for North America.  This includes posting month-end close entries, quarterly reporting, and annual push-down entries, and reconciliations.

Review reconciliations performed by other team members and provide guidance to less experienced members of the team.

Become familiar with current payroll processes and create process improvements/efficiencies to streamline workflow.

Perform and review account reconciliations and issue resolution with HR and Accounting personnel within Corteva and HR service provider.

Perform a flux analysis of pay costs and liabilities to ensure reasonableness.

Analyze payroll transactions for appropriate classification and compliance with generally accepted accounting standards and Corteva accounting policy.

Qualifications

Background and Experience – What you'll bring to the table

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.

5 – 10 years experience in progressive accounting roles (payroll accounting experience a plus).

SAP or other large ERP system knowledge.

Excellent Organizational skills.

Good Communication skills.

Strong Internal Controls experience.

Able to maintain strict confidentiality (employee has access to compensation data).

Solid Analytical skills.

Collaboration skills by working with multi-functional teams across US and Canada.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
