Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking an individual with the drive and determination to join a dynamic team which has the growth of mortgage lending in the UK high on the strategic agenda. The ambition is to further develop mortgages as the number one product for the UK bank and the risk team is central to safely enabling this.

  • You will have responsibility to drive and lead a wide variety of exciting projects independently, taking accountability for timely and accurate delivery
  • You will contribute and have direct influence on the project planning process, liaising with senior stakeholders and project sponsors
  • You will have the opportunity to manage project delivery from initial requirement gathering to implementation, and be able to see how changes make a positive impact for both the bank and its customers
  • You will be able to positively support the vision and strategy of the department, working with the Senior Leadership Team to engage and motivate team members, including offshore teams.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Previous working knowledge and experience of secured lending credit risk management techniques
  • Detailed understanding of Buy to Let lending principles and regulation, with wider awareness of industry practices, including Portfolio Landlord and / or Limited Company lending
  • Proven track record of leading and managing projects within a team, delivering results on time and on budget
  • Detailed working knowledge of setting/oversight of adherence to Buy to Let Credit Policy
  • Ability to present data driven output tailored to the audience in a persuasive and compelling way

Preferably you would also have at least one of the following:

  • Previous working experience and knowledge of SAS / SQL / Python
  • Ability to write complex macros, data extraction queries, producing structured analysis datasets and performing statistical analyses and tests against the data

The base office location for this role is Sheffield or Birmingham.
