Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Secured Credit Risk Manager (Residential)

The role holder will have the drive and determination to join a dynamic team which has the growth of mortgage lending in the UK high on the strategic agenda.  The ambition is to further develop mortgages as the number one product for the UK bank and the risk team is central to safely enabling this.

In this role you will:

  • Have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the direction and growth of owner occupied mortgage lending within HSBC;
  • Have responsibility to drive and lead a wide variety of exciting projects independently, taking accountability for timely and accurate delivery;
  • Will contribute to and have direct influence on the project planning process, connecting with a wide variety of senior stakeholders and project sponsors across the business;
  • Have the opportunity to manage project delivery from initial requirement gathering to implementation, and be able to see how changes make a positive impact for both the bank and its customers;
  • Be able to positively support the vision and strategy of the UK Risk team, working with the Senior Leadership Team to engage and motivate team members, including offshore teams.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:  

  • Previous working knowledge and experience of secured lending credit risk management techniques;
  • Detailed understanding of Residential lending principles and regulation, with wider awareness of industry practices;
  • Proven track record of leading and managing projects within a team, delivering results on time and on budget;
  • Previous experience and knowledge of SAS / SQL / Python and ability to evolve skills with technology advancements;
  • Capable of writing complex macros, data extraction queries, producing structured datasets and performing statistical analyses against the data;
  • Ability to present complex statistical concepts and results in a way tailored to the audience in a persuasive and compelling way.


The base office location for this role is Sheffield or Birmingham with Hybrid
