Role Summary

The Seattle Strategic Performance Director is the sole subject matter expert and thought leader in strategy development and continuous performance improvement for the Seattle Hub (which includes all operational workgroups, including Airports, Ramp, Fight Ops, Inflight, M&E, etc.). As an individual contributor, this role designs and implements innovative solutions to address operational challenges, enable growth and scalability and identifies technology solutions to strengthen the airline’s largest hub and maintain a competitive advantage. These innovative improvements are cultivated in SEA and rolled out to other stations within the network.

Key Duties

  • As the sole subject matter expert and thought leader in strategy development and continuous performance improvement for the Seattle Hub (which includes all operational workgroups, including Airports, Ramp, Fight Ops, Inflight, M&E, etc.), this role designs and implements innovative solutions to address operational challenges, enable growth and scalability and identifies technology solutions to strengthen the airline’s largest hub and maintain a competitive advantage.

  • Define the long-term Hub strategy and process improvement plans to help the operation remain safe, grow and scale while continuously improving on-time performance, baggage performance and overall guest experience.

  • Construct projects/programs that promote continual process improvement, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, productivity, and financial performance.

  • Research and define performance gaps, risks and challenges to the Seattle operation and identify steps to take to ensure strategies and solutions are achieving goals.

  • Advise the VP of Strategic Performance and the MD of Seattle Operations to create effective Hub strategies and improvement plans to enable optimal performance and competitive advantage.

  • Partner with senior leaders across multiple operational divisions to define and measure key performance indicators and measure outcomes.

  • Make significant and impactful decisions around operational processes, tools, designs, etc. that set the precedent for future performance, leveraging best in market knowledge, experience, and research.

  • Build diverse, high-performing cross-divisional teams from appropriate areas of the business, including leaders, peers, and staff to creatively understand and solve complex company challenges.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 10 years of experience in project management, process improvement, strategy development or related field.

  • 5 years of experience leading complex, high-impact, programs from concept through delivery and sustainment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, statistics, operations research, computer science, or a related discipline; or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Knowledge of and experience using Lean/Six Sigma process improvement strategies.

  • Ability to quickly assess a problem using live intake, data, and analytics to turn around and implement a successful solution.

  • Ability to inspire trust and confidence in the business’s leadership and management, who will then be willing to follow in his strategic insights and directives.

  • Work comfortably with business executives and leadership, have an ability to multitask and meet aggressive deadlines, and demonstrate an ability to stay calm under pressure.

  • Must be a people person who also has the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team into consistent performance improvement.

  • Ability to transform data into actionable insights and develop strategies to act upon those insights.

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

  • High energy, positive, and executive-level presence; able to thrive in a rapidly changing, collaborative environment.

  • Proven ability to develop strong, collaborative working relationships and working teams across all levels of the organization, including executives.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams outside of one’s direct authority.

  • Fluency and experience with MS Office products

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of analytic methods and modeling.
