This position will report to the Seachoice General Manager.  The main responsibility of this position will be product development and design improvements for all Seachoice products. This position will provide engineering support in all areas of component design, testing and quality.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and employ production products manufactured by various methods such as, machining, casting, stamping, molding (plastics), electrical assemblies, etc.

  • Coordinate work between manufacturer’s engineers to determine the most advantageous development path utilizing all available resources.

  • Create intellectual property when merited and research I.P. to avoid any potential conflict.

  • Develop and execute validation test plans at the component and system level after considering the product’s intended application, appropriate regulations and standards, and a suitable factor of safety. Work with internal and third-party test labs to confirm when a product meets those standards.

  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures, criteria and judgment to ascertain if a current or prospective product meet set standards. Provide recommendations to resolve quality concerns and drive continuous improvement.

  • Review manufacturing methods to ensure a high confidence that production processes will consistently meet predetermined specifications. As needed, execute root cause analyses to consistently identify and reduce defects within our supply base.

  • Effectively manage multiple projects and ensure consistent communication with all stakeholders while re-prioritizing projects to ensure efficient development.

  • Other projects as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and a willingness to expediently learn new processes, products and disciplines in order to support ad hoc opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum seven years’ experience developing product and managing product lifecycle.

  • Must have expertise utilizing CAD for 3D models & 2D drawings and possess a strong functional proficiency in GD&T. Must and be able to apply inspection data for process control and process capability.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels, with a proven ability to explain technical implications to stakeholders with limited expertise.

  • Organizational skills necessary to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Marine experience and experience specifying components in a corrosive environment is a plus.
