Roles and Responsibilities of a Group Leader

• Lead by example
• Be honest and open
• Profit-oriented
• Act and behave as an extension of management
• Monitor quality (report and act)
• Monitor material, parts, and tool needs
• Ensure coverage of absenteeism (assigning work per station)
• Ensure safety and good housekeeping
• Schedule attainment
• Control costs ( waste, scrap, damage and rework)
• Provide input for performance evaluations
• Run department at the floor level
• Fill in for supervisor when absent (meetings, reports, etc.)
• Identify barriers to schedule attainment and communicate ideas to supervisor and managers for review
• Training of employees
• ISO compliance
• Moral, teamwork, and motivation
• BOM maintenance (pick list adjustments)
• Identify Engineering issues and be a part of the solution
• Technical job knowledge
• Job breakdowns
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting
