Roles and Responsibilities of a Group Leader
- Lead by example
- Be honest and open
- Profit-oriented
- Act and behave as an extension of management
- Monitor quality (report and act)
- Monitor material, parts, and tool needs
- Ensure coverage of absenteeism (assigning work per station)
- Ensure safety and good housekeeping
- Schedule attainment
- Control costs ( waste, scrap, damage and rework)
- Provide input for performance evaluations
- Run department at the floor level
- Fill in for supervisor when absent (meetings, reports, etc.)
- Identify barriers to schedule attainment and communicate ideas to supervisor and managers for review
- Training of employees
- ISO compliance
- Moral, teamwork, and motivation
- BOM maintenance (pick list adjustments)
- Identify Engineering issues and be a part of the solution
- Technical job knowledge
- Job breakdowns
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Work to ensure and enhance communication in all directions
- Assist in achieving departmental expectations and goals
- Assist in establishing and monitoring quality standards
- Responsible for self growth and training
- Encourage employee involvement
