Scientist in Discovery Biology - Cellular Immunology
Job Summary
Bristol-Myers Squibb is looking for a Scientist to join the Discovery Biology Immunology team located in Lawrenceville, NJ. The position will utilize cellular, biological, biochemical and immunological techniques to validate novel targets in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Broad expertise in cellular biology is required with preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in primary human and murine immune cells systems.
The position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role. The candidate is expected to be able to plan, design, develop methodologies and execute projects according to plans and protocols with appropriate supervision.
Education:
BS or MS degree in immunology, biology, biochemistry or biological science with 3-6+ years of experience or recent PhD graduate
Required Experience and Skills:
Extensive experience in flow cytometric analysis, measurement of cell surface receptors and phosphoproteins by multicolor FACS across different platforms is required.
Extensive experience in primary human and mouse immune cell isolation, propagation and immune cell-based functional assays is required (e.g. T cells, B cells, myeloid cells, co-culture assays and other primary cell assays)
Hands on experience with a wide range of in vitro cellular and biochemical assays, including, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISAs (MSD), reporter assays are required
Must be able to work independently, to design and conduct experiments, including trouble-shooting outcomes and adaptively designing follow-on experiments with minimal supervision
Proficiency in scientific computer programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad, and FlowJo
Excellent record keeping and verbal skills, and ability to make clear and logical presentations to research teams.
Possess a high level of critical thinking, high energy, independence, a strong desire to learn new areas, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic, transparent, research organization
Broad expertise in cellular biology is required with preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in primary human and murine immune cells systems.
The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills
Required to be able to work well independently as well as work collaboratively across other functional groups within the Discovery Research organization.
Meticulous record keeping, and excellent understanding in immunology and related assays are must have requirements.
