Role Summary
The Program Manager, Schedule Design, is a subject matter expert in building long range schedules inclusive of hub design to support long term planning requirements at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in economic analysis and provide recommendations to address operational, fleet, and revenue considerations to produce industry-leading schedules.
Key Duties
Creates, develops and optimizes the long-range flight schedules based on Network Planning market frequency decisions, operational constraints, crew capabilities, and fleet plan utilizing complex modeling software to maximize profitability.
Acts as the lead for Network Planning in reviewing schedule patterns and adjusting schedules to align with passenger demand and financial performance in new and existing markets.
Leads the evaluation of the operational impact of conceptual future schedule adjustments, including new routes, frequency, time, and equipment changes.
Serves as Network Planning’s representative in the budgetary planning process, producing and maintaining the rolling 18-month budget schedule with Finance, Crew and M&E.
Maintains strong internal working relationships with hub/outstation, maintenance, crew, operations research group, and others to ensure schedule feasibility and reliability for future schedules.
Supports in the creation of seasonal flight schedules to ensure schedule design and structures are properly implemented
Prepares ad-hoc analyses in support of other commercial teams as it affects future schedules.
Mentors other Analysts on the team to ensure continuum of work and productivity.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
4 years of experience with airline planning/scheduling tools, data analysis, or related area
Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in business administration, economics, statistics, engineering, mathematics, accounting, finance, computer science, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Knowledge of airline fundamentals and economics.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently under tight deadlines.
Superior analytical and critical thinking skills.
Good at multi-tasking and able to reprioritize responsibilities as priorities change.
Demonstrates the ability and passion to continuously look for ways to improve the Alaska Airlines network and flight schedule.
High school diploma or equivalent.  
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
