Job Description

The Sanitation Lead is responsible for performing and directing sanitation tasks to clean and sanitize all production equipment and processing areas. This employee is responsible for working safely using processes that meet food & safety requirements as well as sanitation goals and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive):

  • Lead shift activities to meet sanitation goals & standards.
  • Responsible for leading full sanitation shifts or partial wipe down shifts.
  • Responsible for first time cleanliness results based on swab count and visual inspection
  • Ensure sanitation functions are completed per department standards
  • Ensure employees are properly trained for sanitation tasks.
  • Assist in employee sanitation standard operating procedure trainings.
  • Assist in maintaining and implementing effective sanitation standard operating procedures, practices, and policies.
  • Perform pre-operational sanitation requirements.                                               
  • Perform large-scale "dry cleaning" on various surfaces and pieces of equipment.
  • Maintain MSS logs and ensure implementation and completion of all MSS tasks.     
  • Maintain inventory and usage logs.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.           
  • Comply with all GMP, quality and food safety practices.
  • Provide input on improving efficiencies in the department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform operations of weight, volume, and length measurement.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to solve problems that arise quickly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the importance of keeping chemicals locked and secure.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and repetitive use of arms, hands, back and legs to unload and load product
