We are a small but rapidly growing company that is at a pivotal moment in our evolution and expansion. Therefore, we are looking for an exceptional person to take on the newly created role of Sales Manager. The successful candidate will work closely with our two Operation Directors and the Head of Sales to help take the company to the heights we know it can achieve.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills and be dynamic, strategic in approach, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail, the ability to think laterally and on their feet, and a passion for improving care for young people.

About us

Penificent, founded in late 2017, is a business seeking to address young people's issues and provide a positive influence through comics and workshops. Our books contain thought-provoking discussion questions directly related to the book's topic, e.g. mental health, Knife crime etc. The books also have activities for young people to go through during a workshop or at home with their parents, keyworker, appropriate adult. These activities range from colouring to creating your own story that tackles a young person's choice. Through user feedback, we have learnt that our comic story structure with the questions and activities promote more profound thought in young people than the intermediate workbook or mainstream comic book. We currently run workshops in schools with our comics either in person (before Covid-19) or via zoom due to the pandemic. We have also run workshops with BBC Newsround ( Search: Penificent BBC Newsround) Quotes from Anti Knife crime Newsround workshop (Adam 16,: "Living in a notorious area I think it stops me from doing many things like leaving my house and going out".

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy that builds and maintains a customer base and expands revenue streams
  • Monitor the development of the product/service from its conceptualization through to its testing and launch, and tailor unique sales strategies around the product/service
  • Identify new markets, new partnerships, new ways to reach existing markets, or new product/service offerings to better meet the needs of existing markets
  • Develop sales targets and identify the roadmap by examining growth opportunities and enabling sales improvements
  • Create and implement sales action plans and set key performance indicators (KPI’s)
  • Conduct research on the latest market trends in order to stay ahead of the competition and secure a greater market share
  • Gather information in order to produce Expressions of Interest (EOIs), Terms of Reference (TORs) and prepare proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Undertake detailed analyses of sales performance for the purpose of reporting sales strategy successes, weaknesses, and opportunities


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Essential

 

  • Previous experience in a sales role
  • First class communication and collaboration skills
  • presentation, verbal, and written English communication skills.
  • Possess commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to gain deep understanding of the customer base, the competitive market, and to analyse sales performance
  • Ability to actively take initiative and help set things up in a start-up environment
  • Ability to actively seek and give input in a collaborative team environment
  • A committed team player with good communication skills
  • Available to volunteer at least 7 hours a week

Desirable

  • Relationships and networks within the WASH sector
  • Experience of setting up a B2B and B2C processes
  • Experience working in a small team.
