Job Summary

A Sales Development Representative partners with Evernorth Sales to identify and confirm target prospects within the sales pipeline. The primary purpose of this job is to help Sales hit annual sales goals by identifying, qualifying, and cultivating new Evernorth sales opportunities that lead to the acquisition of new business. The Sales Development Representative should have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact directly with prospects. The Sales Development Representative also provides strategic project management support for the Evernorth’s largest prospects throughout the buying journey focusing on prospecting efforts. This includes supporting prospecting activities by working with cross-functional partners to create messaging, presentation materials and providing logistical support as needed for each assigned project. 

This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation

Essential Functions

Research prospect pipeline by focusing on a set of early-funnel activities including lead qualification, nurturing and outbound sales prospecting.

  • Utilize internal and external databases to identify new prospects
  • Research prospects to discover key information such as lines of business, size, stakeholders, contract effective date, current providers and pain points
  • Review past bids to provide insights and patterns that may be useful in upcoming prospecting efforts
  • Research and confirm key stakeholder’s contact information
  • Research existing relationships using internal and external resources

Lead Qualification and Nurturing

  • Assess new leads by vetting quality, readiness to purchase and fit
  • Nurture a lead through a steady cadence of tailored communications including personalized emails, phone calls,  and social media
  • Monitors and analyzes data within Salesforce, Marketo and other Sales Enablement tools to inform prospecting efforts

CRM Management

  • Update Salesforce with research findings
  • Maintain Salesforce data quality
  • Create and maintain pipeline reports that track current known prospects

Project Management

  • Provides project management support for prospect activities (meetings, site visits, lab visits, web demos, leadership interactions)
  • Work with Sales team, presenters and internal subject matter experts to build prospect experience for bid support
  • Work with marketing on custom prospecting materials
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as requested by leadership
  • Identify opportunities to bring additional value to the sales team and assist with solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of experience with degree preferred.
  • MS Office required.
  • Salesforce and Marketo preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage projects against deadlines
  • Ability to interact with all professional levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan for and integrate multiple tasks concurrently
  • Works well independently with some direction

This role is Flex/WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
