Role Summary
The Program Manager Safety Standards will develop and implement the Business Partner Safety Standards program for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. The program manager will serve as an expert in safety, working with operational business partners and alliance partners to ensure a single level of safety at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. The program manager will assist in developing long term strategies, processes, and tools that lead to better transparency, partnership, and consistency with business partner safety performance. They will work closely with our operating divisions, business partners, Supply Chain, and Alliances to find innovative solutions to enhance and promote the level of safety and flow of safety information, as well as best safety practices across partners.
Key Duties
Lead subject matter expert in the development, implementation and sustainability of the Alaska Air Group Business Partner Safety Standards program.
Create and define common business partner safety standards for AAG.
Create robust monitoring tools of business partner safety performance.
Assess safety management system maturity of business partners.
Liaise with and influence key internal stakeholders to adopt and maintain AAG Business Partner Safety Standards.
Partner with Legal and Supply Chain to ensure standard safety language is adopted in business partner agreements.
Partner with operating division and Quality Assurance leadership to perform due diligence reviews of proposed business partners.
Primary safety liaison with McGee Air Services.
Support the build-out and maturity of a proactive safety management system.
Ensure a single level of safety between Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, and McGee is maintained.
Create proactive visibility to key operational business partner safety performance.
Partner with operational leadership to develop and embed business partner safety scorecards/metrics.
Advise and support the AAG Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure key business partner risks are incorporated into relevant management system review boards for visibility.
Partner with key AAG leaders to create a regular governance process that allows for safety information sharing between partners and Alaska Air Group.
Own cross-divsional safety risk management (SRM) review process involving current and proposed business partners.
Perform special analyses and reviews including system implementations and/or safety and compliance investigations.
Work with division leadership to develop risk based tools and techhniques to strengthen operational programs, processes and controls.
Extensive travel required.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
7 years of experience in Aviation or related area.
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.
Outstanding ability to build deep relationships with critical internal and external stakeholders.
Outstanding oral/written communication and presentation skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
3 years working in airline operations, aviation safety, safety management systems.
Previous experience working in IEP and/or Quality Assurance programs.
Previous experience working with an airline/aviation service provider.
Strong interpersonal skills and an outstanding ability to communicate and get things done using these skills.
Background building and owning proactive safety programs.
