The Role:

As a pivotal member of the compliance management team, the purpose of this role is underpinned by our value \'Always Improving\' and strengthens our rapidly growing and evolving business through the identification and oversight of safety risks, mitigating those by implementing tangible safety change programmes and initiatives across the IAG Cargo network and embedding a culture of safety first by taking personal accountability to support, guide and communicate within a diverse range of networked operations. 

The role will encompasses a combined IAG Cargo worldwide network of both in-sourced and outsourced operations, and is responsible for the design, implementation and on going management of group safety, ensuring that safety risks across IAG Cargo are identified and effectively managed in line with all regulatory requirements through the application of a robust safety plan.

Working with key interfaces across the whole of the International Airlines Group to provide the tools for safety management and to personally drive forward quantifiable performance and compliance improvement, communicate changes to regulatory framework across the business and provide support, advice and guidance with regard to safety regulations laid down by external bodies.  The role also provides oversight to the group up to director level of global performance through a robust safety management system.

DUTIES

• Identifies key safety risks across the business through risk assessment and trend analysis from the Management System (AIR) and ensures auditable action plans are delivered to address those risks.

• Developments, implements and manages a safety improvement plan for IAG Cargo operations. Ensuring that it meets all regulatory requirements and compliments the instructions of the OpCo’s.

• Operation of robust escalation procedures, including direct involvement in, and resolution of, significant safety issues.

• Adopts continuous improvement methodology to ensure the business remains safe and secure.

• Designs an audit programme to measure compliance to regulatory requirements.

• Embeds a ‘Just Culture’ for safety within IAG Cargo to ensure consistent reporting of events and conducting higher level formal investigations where required.

• Supports and guides the business in infrastructure projects and business initiatives from a safety perspective with a structured management of change programme.

• Advises and communicates to the business the requirements and changes to safety 
regulation.

• Liaises with, and support of, IAG airline OpCo’s and IAG Cargo customer service managers in dealing with safety performance issues.

• Owns the global safety standards across IAG Cargo, ensuring they are up to date with the latest requirements, relevant to the business and understandable.

• Central point of contact for all safety matters and standards across IAG Cargo.

• Develops a safety management manual to ensure process and controls are robust and compliant.

• Produces trend analysis, collects metrics, analysis and reports across all operations, ensuring transparency across the network.

• Uses targeted communications to educate the business on safety risks as part of a safety plan developed from trend analysis.

• Develops safety reporting to provide transparency of performance to the IAG Cargo Safety Group and its’ sub-groups.
