THE ROLE
You will be…
The Finance RTR Lead will partner with key finance and other functional stakeholders (e.g. FP&A, Financial Accounting, Commercial Finance, Tech and Global Business Services) to lead on the successful delivery of RTR improvement projects. This role is pivotal in delivering Finance’s Transformation Programme as well as enabling ASOS by establishing best-in-class RTR processes, which generate insight to support business performance and overall control environment. The Finance RTR Lead will ensure effective programme governance, stakeholder engagement, resource management and input/recommendations of project designs, plans and implementations impacting ASOS’ RTR processes.

You will…
- Lead the exploration, change roadmap and prioritisation of Record to Report (‘RTR’) process issue areas at ASOS, including the articulation and documentation of these issues to stakeholders as well as operational benefit vs cost of improving/resolving these issues. This includes consideration and recommendations across journal processing, month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, financial cost control and accounting judgement/estimate processes, working closely with FP&A, Accounting and Commercial Finance teams
- Improve ASOS’ RTR processes, data, reporting, systems and change approach considering all relevant Finance stakeholders (e.g. AP, Financial Accounting, Commercial Finance, Taxation, Treasury) as well as business stakeholders (e.g. Commercial/Business budget-holders, Global Business Services etc) and Tech stakeholders
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate finance scope & design, functional & reporting requirements, stakeholder engagement & communication, testing & data validation & cutover scope, training & transition into business-as-usual and project management across all RTR change programmes & projects
- Ensure appropriate review and challenge of recommended changes using knowledge gained from deep dives into identified issue areas, and experience within Finance and ASOS, as well as your own, to ensure practical and workable solutions are put forward to management
- Finance lead for the centralisation and subsequent of RTR activities to the Global Business Services team, including all change management activities supporting Finance during this transition
- Finance lead for RTR automation project, recommending appropriate solution for and implementation of a systemised journal processing, month end and balance sheet reconciliation tool, including RTR and control related dashboards and reporting, driving data-supported action and change management and realising tangible benefits to the business
- Change lead for all RTR change requests, including appropriate process design and challenge support
- Support Director of Finance Change & Transformation to ensure stakeholder, client and partner relationship management, acting as finance transformation ambassador at key senior-level meetings
- Provide commercial insight, financial expertise, simplification and standardisation of systems and processes globally
- Deliver solutions to improve ability to meet reporting obligations and empower staff to make better business decisions
- Partake in relevant Finance Change & Transformation prioritisation sessions as well as representing finance/AP interests at relevant cross-functional change boards
- Support and input into the Finance Change & Transformation roadmap, ensuring business change impacts are considered and reflected accordingly into finance change workstreams to ensure the right priorities and solutions are delivered into Finance across the entire Finance Transformation journey
- Adopt a ‘customer service delivery’ approach to change management into Finance and the wider business, ensuring appropriate consideration and response to stakeholder concerns are addressed while providing challenge, utilising your experience and knowledge, to ensure pragmatic and beneficial solutions to project implementation are found to support ASOS’ growth and strategic ambitions
As with any project role, the specific responsibilities, deliverables and scope are variable. Ultimately, the role covers everything that needs to be delivered to ensure successful delivery of new ways of working that business change programmes/projects introduce to Finance, alongside associated business processes and terminology for the whole of ASOS.
We’d love to meet, someone with…
- Qualified accountant
- Experience in working effectively cross-functionally – e.g. with Finance, Commercial, SC, Tech etc – to identify opportunities and drive them to resolution, translate business issues into solutions that address complex situations
- Previous relevant RTR process improvement and implementation experience, preferably at fast-paced retail and e-commerce businesses, preferably including Acquire-to-Retire (ATR) process experience
- Previous experience supporting businesses transitioning to shared service operating models
- Ability to deal with highly demanding and complex delivery landscape
- Ability to effectively prioritise and deliver clear outputs to stakeholders to project deadlines
- Flexible mindset
- Meticulous attention to detail, superb organization skills, and strong sense of ownership
- Experience with technical and commercial accounting considerations alongside ability to recognise where specialist areas will need to be consulted – e.g. taxation, treasury, legal, CoSec and other similar areas
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organisation
- Knowledgeable in agile/scrum methodology
