Position summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Revenue Growth Manager, the position’s principal objective is to provide pricing and trade optimization leadership and analysis to enable strategic price recommendations, trade optimization solutions and develop best-in-class pricing capabilities with the goal of accelerating Gross Margin and Net Sales. The role is also the central resource for Net Revenue Management across the Market Development Team.
The position offers a unique experience not found within other Sales functions because of the high degree of interaction with the different departments within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Strategic
Collaborate with Marketing and Brand Finance teams to provide strategic pricing thought leadership and analysis to enable price recommendations to grow Net Sales and Gross Margin. (Inclusive, but not limited to; pricing slopes, pricing role in market, price positioning, portfolio pricing, role of trade, etc.)
Create pricing strategies for new and current products rooted in analytics and consumer/ customer/category/ competitive insights
Develop long-term (3-5yr year) pricing roadmap through the lens of continuous Brand profitability improvement
Determine Brand price positioning and target price gaps in order to optimize pricing vs. competition
Provide pricing and trade optimization thought leadership and leverage best practices to further develop pricing intelligence and capability
Analysis & Execution
Establish [with Brand Marketing] pricing strategy for all innovation and current products; develop pricing architecture
Provide holistic perspective and insightful analytics that lead to strategic pricing recommendations [Base, Incremental, EDLP, etc.] across all Channels and Customers
Evaluate effectiveness of current pricing architecture and develop recommendations for refinement or to capture new opportunities [based on product, pack, channel]
Propose short-term pricing moves and long-term pricing strategy recommendations in order to maximize Gross Margin and Net Sales
Define pack size ratios to establish effective pricing architecture slope
Identify pricing and trade optimization opportunities at National and Customer levels in collaboration with sales, marketing, and MS&P teams. Coordinate recommendations for customer specific trade optimization in partnership with MS&P and sales
Analyze competitor strategies to identify implications to Conagra
Lead Branded price increases - analysis, recommendation and execution
Lead and develop scorecards to ensure price action is realized
Assist in selling in pricing action
Recommend course of action for any National and Brand pricing issues
Establishes and set guardrails for Go-To-Markets
Analyze National level trade spend and develop recommendations
Work with the Customer teams to optimize trade investment for maximum ROI
Qualifications:
University Degree, preferably with emphasis in business, economics, finance and/or accounting, MBA / CFA an asset
3-5 years of CPG experience in roles within Revenue Management, Customer or Sales Strategy, Sales/Brand or Trade Finance preferred
Strong analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with Nielsen
Familiarity with the Canadian marketplace and the dynamic that exists between brands, retailers and consumers
