Position Title: Revenue Analyst

Job Location: Bangalore, KA -India

To provide pricing and revenue support work for Caterpillar Retail Electric Power products and complete related special projects as assigned. 

This work includes performing

  • product price reviews (internal and external),
  • review product profitability,
  • maintain price lists,
  • analyze competitive environment (transaction price level for both Caterpillar and competitor units, NPI);
  • administration/evaluation of special pricing assessments (SPARS, sales variance programs, Product Line Cascades for current and future product (NPI);
  • analyzing revenue contribution from volume, PINS and price.   

Job duties:

Revenue Management is responsible for establishing and reviewing revenue proposals for Caterpillar products.  The process includes analysis of sales history, volume forecast, competition, product quality, product availability, value premiums, costs and related economic and other factors.

Works with Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Legal, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Product Definition, Global Revenue Management and Revenue Management (Pricing personnel) elsewhere in the company to obtain and evaluate information needed for making revenue recommendations.

Assists in achieving specific Division objectives by aiding efforts to improve profitability through recommending revenue growth opportunities for price, volume or PINS.  Analysis includes, where possible, suggested objective costs to be shared with Purchasing, Manufacturing and impacted parties.

This position is for experienced analysts able to direct their own workload and resulting priorities.

The incumbent may perform one or more of the following: 

  • preparation of monthly reports;
  • monitor, document and analyze pricing actions of competitors;
  • maintain the company’s master price history records;
  •  gather and analyze shipment volume and PINS/POPS;
  •  calculate and maintain yield and revenue data in order to determine the effectiveness and profitability of pricing strategies and tactics. 

The incumbent is responsible for regularly and accurately maintaining and updating revenue systems (pricing, invoicing and merchandizing) and answering all revenue/pricing related queries for their assigned products.

Pricing tasks are medium to high in complexity.  Decisions are usually unique and require some degree of creativity to reach a solution and has medium risk impact to the enterprise.  The incumbent works within an established work routine with some supervision and instructions.  The incumbent may assist more experienced personnel in pricing issues. 

Develops and maintains internal controls including Sarbanes-Oxley control documentation and is responsible for the testing and validating of these controls.

External contacts include various companies who purchase services offered by Caterpillar.  The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.  Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.  The position changes the way work is performed to meet quality goals for the measure(s) stated.

Incumbents start guiding their own development and continual learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes.  Key learning comes from gaining experience in the assigned revenue management area, developing communication and people relationship skills, improving problem solving and analysis techniques, building business skills, enhancing use of Caterpillar systems and developing leadership basics.  Incumbents must stay abreast of industry and systems changes and learn to relate those changes to Caterpillar and their business unit needs.

The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.

Limited travel required (5% of working time).

Background/experience:

  • Requires a college degree or equivalent experience concentrated in business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting, engineering or related fields. 
  • The position requires prior experience as a Revenue/Pricing Analyst or equivalent level.
  • The ability to utilize a variety of computer software packages:
  • SAP, Excel is necessary and knowledge of PowerBI, Tableau, Salesforce would be desirable. 
  • In addition, 3 to 4 years of job-related experience are typically required.
  • Jobholder must have demonstrated strong collaboration in previous roles. 
  • Must have strong analytical ability with attention to detail, strong initiative, be results oriented, have a high level of interpersonal skills and be an effective writer and oral communicator.
