About the Role

Supporting our Special Projects and Weapon Systems line of business, several key projects require the sustainment and development of tactical and strategic weapons systems. Integrating into numerous wider multi-disciplinary engineering teams in this business area, the applicant will be performing key analyses to support the shared endeavours of each team.

The role suits a Research Engineer wishing to have an ability to learn and deliver a broad spectrum of responsibilities.

Self-drive will be required in order to deliver programme activities and milestones, and the role will on occasions be customer facing.

Although highly desirable, the applicant need not necessarily have considerable experience, therefore will be supported by other subject matter experts in their development where necessary.

The successful applicant will have a rewarding engineering career in a highly stimulating defence world.

Key areas of work will include:

Conducting technology research and undertaking trade studies

Developing engineering essential logic with Chief engineer support

Required skills, qualifications and experience

General understanding of the whole product lifecycle from requirements through to test

Engineering experience within in a Concept, Design, CADM or Production Engineering environment with an understanding of PDM Systems.

Self managing, task ownership, strong communicator, stakeholder engagement, both with internal programme and external Customer.

Conducted research into new technologies, undertaking trade studies and developing assessment programmes.

Excellent technical author

Collaboration and integration of design engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software)

Elements of the work are export controlled therefore must be a sole UK passport holder and not a dual national

Be able to obtain UK Secret Clearance as a minimum.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

Development of systems for defence applications

Experience of test, verification and validation activities

Work package understanding including planning, tracking and reporting of cost and risk

operational analysis and mission effectiveness studies

Conducted technology and architectural trade studies

Willingness to become DV cleared
