Research Coordinator - ADM Animal Nutrition - Mendon, IL
This is an exempt position.

ADM Animal Nutrition – a fully-owned subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company and national manufacturer of livestock feed with over 40 locations in North America is seeking a Livestock Specialist at our Mendon Research facility.  This position will assist in the identification and development of innovative, technologically advanced swine, poultry and livestock feeds.  Additional responsibilities include:
 

• Follow livestock research protocols in feeding, weighing animal care, including data collection and maintaining accurate records
• Follow facility safety guidelines
• Coordinate with Species Managers all protocols to be implemented at the Intensive Research Center
• Report all data to Species manager
• Assist in development of Research protocols
• Coordinate with Veterinarians in the care of the animals
• Collect samples to be submitted to lab 
• Coordinate with universities and industry partners when necessary
• Be leader or member of Animal Care and Use committee including completing ACUC protocols for each experiment
• Develop SOP’s necessary for procedures at Intensive Research Center
• Assist in writing final reports for studies
• Estimate feed needs and coordinate with Pilot plant for manufacturing
• Attend and be active member of weekly species research calls
• Provide leadership to Intensive Research Center staff members 
• Maintain physical appearance and operation of facilities

Position Requirements

•  Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in Biology or Animal Science preferred, but not required.

• 3-5 years of livestock production (with emphasis on Poultry) and animal nutrition research.

• Good working knowledge of animal husbandry and related health/treatment procedures.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as team working abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and the ability to operate farm equipment
