The Conservative manifesto committed to legislate to make the UK the safest place in the world to be online – protecting children from online abuse and harms, protecting the most vulnerable from accessing harmful content, and ensuring there is no safe space for terrorists to hide online. This commitment sits at the heart of DCMS’ objective to make sure that the internet works for everyone - businesses, citizens and society as a whole.
The Security and Online Harms Directorate takes a leading role in tackling a diverse range of online harms and broader internet policies including disinformation, online counter terrorism, the regulatory responsibilities of platforms, child online safety and international and EU exit issues.
We are recruiting for 1 policy role across the directorate to join our team to work in an exciting and important area:
Regulatory Policy Advisor
The Queen’s speech in December 2019 set out the Government’s intention to develop legislation to implement a new, world-leading regulatory framework to tackle online harms.
The Government takes the issue of disinformation seriously and has established the Counter Disinformation Unit led by DCMS. The Unit works across Government to deliver a comprehensive and coordinated response to the issue of disinformation, and key risks such as democratic events and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Security and Online Harms directorate is looking to recruit 1 Band B to work on:
