Job Description

The purpose of the Regulatory Compliance Manager role is to implement compliance policies and procedures that ensure effective compliance with applicable US regulatory requirements.  This role is responsible for delivering compliance related training and validating compliance of the North American product labels, marketing materials, and factories to US regulations.  This role will interact and work closely with the global graphic chain and PDI teams, commercial team, and NA factories. This role will be responsible for auditing and validating compliance with all U.S. government laws and regulations concerning product label and claim substantiation.  

What are we looking for?

  • Maintain current knowledge base of existing and emerging regulations, standards, or guidance documents.
  • Support Research and Development efforts by evaluating compliance status and rationale for new ingredients including labeling and claims based on intended use.
  • Liaise with R&D teams to ensure understanding of how US regulatory requirements will impact overall project timelines and resources.
  • Provide guidance to our factory and quality & food safety teams to ensure compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act.
  • Maintain an active, ongoing regulatory risk assessment for raw material compliance status and factory inspection-readiness.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of mitigation for highest priority risks.
  • Help develop and execute actions plans to address questions, issues, and objections from regulatory agencies.
  • Represent company objectives in pet food trade associations as identified.
  • Contribute to Regulatory Compliance Monitoring activity by engagement in trade association, AAFCO, and internal team meetings.
  • Responsible for building knowledge and capability of organization in compliance, innovation, and public affairs.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • An BS or the equivalent experience in a technical discipline is desirable.
  • Knowledge of AAFCO regulations and FDA laws or 5 years regulatory affairs experience. 
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision, meeting deadlines and demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and leverage networks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (with emphasis in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and strong computer skills
  • Proven experience in building cross-functional bridges to create awareness and ensure compliance is implemented.
