Job Purpose and Impact

The Regional Sustainability Specialist will lead the development, implementation and execution of strategic sustainability programs and projects at the farmgate in collaboration with internal and external partners across the North American region to drive key environmental outcomes. In this role, you will lead the entire process for a specific business program lifecycle to provide a final solution package. The Regional Sustainability Specialist will work across supply chains, with businesses, corporate team members, and outside industry groups with a goal of delivering practical sustainability solutions that enable our business to grow and customers to be more profitable. You will help to develop, train, and influence the team to gain proficiency in positioning and engaging farmgate customers in our sustainability programs and offerings.

Location: This will be a remote position. The preferred locations for this role includIL, IN, OH, MI.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide insights and input into sustainability strategies and incorporate emerging opportunities and expectations of our customers as well as corporate goals.
  • Be regional lead in Cargill farmer facing go to market strategy around RegenConnect and other sustainability programs.
  • Collaborate across Cargill businesses in the development of programs to engage producers around sustainability practices, tools and technology, metrics or certifications that are economically sound, scalable and drive value for all stakeholders across the supply chain.
  • Drive the execution of project plans, develop training tools, workshops and learning sessions to assist with internal and external execution.
  • Own regional origination results for RegenConnect product line. 
  • Influence and grow team skills around sales excellence and technical knowledge for all sustainability programs including RegenConnect.  
  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using customer research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.
  • Partner with the marketing and communications teams to optimally position sustainability at the farmgate customer level and internally to tell the story of our efforts across the supply chain.
  • Gain expertise and an understanding of various external programs, sustainable production schemes and digital technology solutions and common sustainability programs that the industry is using to engage customers.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% during the Key Enrollment period (May -September)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agricultural sales/farmer facing experience
  • Grain marketing and agronomy background
  • Regenerative agriculture experience
  • Carbon market experience
