Overview of Risk Management…

Sanctions roles are responsible for ensuring HSBC's compliance with trade, economic and/or financial sanctions administered by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control, United Nations, European Union and HM Treasury’s Financial Sanctions, protecting the organisation from financial crime. This will involve partnering businesses, developing and implementing strategies, processes, controls and policies and ensuring appropriate training and communications are delivered to HSBC employees.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role Regional Sanctions Advisory Manager

 

In this role, you will:

  • Act as delegated Country Sanctions Officer (CSO) under the authority of the Regional Head of Sanctions for HSBC’s Non-Ring-Fenced Bank (NRFB) for sanctions advisory matters
  • Foster a close working relationship with FCC and in-country local Compliance teams including the AML Advisory teams, and business, including keeping abreast of key business developments and any changes to procedures and practices.
  • Lead and co-ordinate regulatory reporting for the UK NRFB with regards to sanctions reporting, including management of a complex tracker recording such engagement.
  • Supporting the wider advisory team with SME knowledge on Sanctions and advisory matters including client due diligence and transaction referrals.
  • Working with Financial Crime Investigations on live sanctions investigations, and RFAs for UK/ Europe.
  • Collaborating with sanctions legal to ensure risk based approach within law and regulation

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong understanding of UK/EU/UN/US sanctions - Essential.
  • Experience in drafting correspondence to and liaising with regulatory bodies
  • preferred. Specific experience with sanctions authorities such as OFSI would be beneficial
  • Experience dealing with regulatory reporting and high risk exposures via clients.
  • Experience managing a team of junior advisors or lawyers.
  • Good understanding of business activities for a large global banking group with diverse operations from retail banking, wealth management, commercial banking, global banking, investments, transaction services, asset management, private banking and insurance
  • Proven analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning
