Job Summary:

The ABC News Los Angeles Bureau has an opening for a Regional Producer. This producer gathers editorial information and video from ABC stations across the western bureau’s coverage area. Candidates must have a strong editorial background in breaking news and also have a strong understanding of all aspects of video news gathering and production. This person will request, process, and distribute video and editorial information from stations and other news sources, and alert the news divisions assignment desk and news managers in the case of breaking news. This producer will be the liaison between all the ABC affiliates on the west coast and the news division during their shift.

Responsibilities:

• Candidate must also have the capability to serve as a field producer during breaking news and special events coverage for network broadcasts and streaming platforms. May be required in part to demonstrate skills with digital consumer and prosumer camera equipment.
• Event coverage and location-based production frequently require evening or weekend work in a fast-paced 24/7 news environment. The producer should also be prepared to work unconventional hours and a willingness to travel to remote locations. Other essential skills include time management, and highly developed communication and writing skills.

Basic Qualifications:

• The candidate is required to have non-linear video editing skills and familiarity with various video file programs, along with an interest in news and information.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with live video feeds from a variety of sources such as live trucks, TVUs and other file-based workflows.
• They must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently, and must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
