We’re looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor with experience of running cost and tender activity in retail and construction projects/programmes, to join our Construction & Design team.

We are investing £1bn in the physical estate over the next 5 years, to transform John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners into being the leading retailers in their respective sectors. This enables the best of both brands to co-exist and complement each other wherever possible, ensuring the continued growth and success of the Partnership.
What you’ll be doing as a Quantity Surveyor:
You will assist in establishing project requirements and help undertake feasibility studies to ensure the proposals work. You will then assist with preparation and analysis of project benchmarks, cost models and cost plans to inform project evolution.
Your remit will be to assist in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities and work schedules with the project team. You will assist in performing risk, value management and cost control during the entire project delivery to the final account. A part of the role is to undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
You'll assist in identifying, analysing and developing team responses to commercial risks and prepare information on contractual claims and disputes. You'll assist in valuing completed work where you will oversee bills and arrange payments, and understand the implications of health and safety regulations.

What you’ll already have:
Working towards MRICS / MCIOB, or Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
Experience of running cost and tender activity in retail and construction projects/programmes, with value engineering capability
Good knowledge of construction methodologies, the development process and the built environment.
Good commercial and value management skills including ability to help develop business cases and use effective value judgement to recommend changes to project scope / direction.
Knowledge in construction and engineering services project procurement and execution
Good competency in risk management and communication at all levels

Additional Information:
​The role can can based in either London Victoria or Bracknell, or a combination of both with blended home working. Travel between various Partnership locations is expected
