Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will provide guidance, technical assistance and scheduling to quality assurance technicians and associates. As a quality assurance professional, you are involved in all aspects of quality and safety including audits, HACCP program evaluation, GMP training, sanitation evaluation, pest control, purchasing supplies, working with operations personnel on quality and safety issues, inspecting returned and incoming products, customer complaints, implementing policies and procedures and evaluating new equipment installation or repair.

You Will:

  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures and comply with all OSHA rules and regulations. (THINK SAFETY FIRST.)
  • Ensure all plant personnel follow good manufacturing practices (GMP) including proper waste disposal.
  • Present to all employees a complete orientation process which provides training in the Key Concepts of Food Safety and Quality and understands that identification of any failures in these areas is their responsibility.
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance to promote Food Safety and Quality ownership to the floor
  • Train team members in the performance of their responsibilities
  • Manage Plant timelines and essential milestones for the Food safety and Quality Improvement Plan and other food safety/quality metrics
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable regulatory agency requirements (FDA, CFIA, etc.)
  • Provide leadership for compliance to food safety and quality programs Implements and maintain quality programs.
  • Develop corrective action when Food Safety or Quality deficiency is identified.
  • Be a liaison for all technical and QC issues between operations, RQI, and sales/marketing departments
  • Provide Corporate with quality assurance assistance involving vendor issues, both improvements and corrective measures
  • Oversee product quality with regards new product implementation and introduction into market. Ensure use of applicable MOPD and CQV tools.
  • FS&Q pillar owner for Conagra Performance System.

You Have:

  • BS Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or other related degree. Education may be substituted for years of experience
  • 3 or more years related experience required preferably in the food industry
  • Experience with Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe practices and procedures
  • Ability to read measurements
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Determine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Skills in monitoring and measurement of process control, auditing, manufacturing of food products, sanitation processes, knowledge of HACCP, SSOP regulations, skills in team leadership, and root cause analysis.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
