Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Quality Manager has direct responsibility for establishing and maintaining performance objectives relating to the quality of all products and processes at the Escondido facility. This position must successfully implement high quality systems and processes at the site level and lead the quality team, while pushing for results and collaborating effectively with all functional groups.

Job Responsibilities:

•Serve as the Quality Management Representative in Site Leadership activities

•Lead and Manage the efforts of the Quality Team in Escondido

•Provide process, system, and quality consultation to all functional groups

•Be the Voice of the Customer in the Escondido site, and ensure that all product manufactured meet all customer specifications and requirements

•Ensure that the production processes are effectively controlled, in process quality expectations are met, and that the Measurement/Test methods are suitable for the task

•Interface with both internal and external customers, and when necessary travel to customer sites to address quality related concerns

•Maintain the current ISO9001 site certification, and improve the Quality System by implementing the processes necessary to obtain an IATF16949 certification

•Manage and develop the Quality Systems to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes in Escondido in regards to site metrics (CPPM, CONQ, Warranty Costs, Internal and External Audit Results, SPPM, etc.)

•Coordinate activities to continuously improve metrics, achieve corporate objectives, and exceed customer expectations

•Provide leadership and direction to ensure in-process quality expectations are met

•Lead activities associated with the Quality functions for DMO, & New Process or Product Launches

•Lead activities associated with 8D Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement, including facilitating meetings, root cause analysis, implementation of corrective actions, communication, and status reports

•Monitor Supplier performance, and ensure that the parts being received meet or exceed both Meritor’s and our customer’s expectations.

•Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure the supply base acts in accordance with the Meritor Supplier Quality System Requirements (SQSR) and all related policies and procedures.

•Manage the supplier corrective action system, communicate effectively with suppliers, and travel to supplier sites when necessary.

•Maintain the communications and interface and with cross functional teams including Purchasing, Supplier Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure compliance with the SQSR and continuous improvement to supplier performance

•Comply with all Meritor policies and procedures

•Educate and motivate employees stressing the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures

•Perform special projects as required

•Monitor and report customer PPAP progress

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

•Bachelor's Degree in a Technical or Business related field

•5-7 years of Quality Management or Supervisory experience in a fast place manufacturing environment is required (preferably in the Automotive Industry)

•Experience in the Manufacturing and Assembly of Electrical Components and Systems

•Experience in Maintaining and Auditing Quality Systems (ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO26262, etc)

•Functional Understanding of Standard Mechanical Engineering Drawings and GD&T

•Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts quickly and effectively

Preferred

•Expertise in Product Launches and Process Development (APQP/PPAP), and all standard AIAG tools

•Experience with Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, Red X, 8D, FMEA, etc.)

•Advanced Quality Certifications (Lead Quality Auditor, CQA, CQE, CQT, SSGB, etc.)
