Job Description

The major objective of this position is to aid the Assembly Process and other Departments on all projects in the area of total controls engineering, ie., electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and minor mechanical; provide necessary support to Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Material Handling to improve processes and correct problems. Customer interface on key quality related items.

Job Responsibilities:

The Quality Engineer has the responsibility and authority to:

ï‚§Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system;

ï‚§Identify and record any product, process, and quality system problems;

ï‚§ Initiate or perform necessary changes to pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical circuitry to ensure optimum performance, reliability, and safety of process equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:

•Ensures compliance to Standards of Business Conduct through familiarity with related policies and procedures to IATF16949 Encourages subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

•Assists in planning & implementation of quality policies in accordance with corporate and plant guidelines meeting customer expectations.

•Provides technical assistance to Assembly Process and Engineering work group in support of projects and manufacturing goals.

•Assists in the selection and purchase of process equipment used for assembly, material handling, and quality assurance as prescribed by the Capital Plan and AOP.

•Serves as a technical resource to Assembly Maintenance Department in identifying and correcting non-routine or highly complex equipment problems.

•Provides technical assistance to other engineering work groups as requested in the areas of hydraulics, pneumatics, material handling or special electrical projects

•Maintains technical documentation and software in direct support of manufacturing equipment and plant facilities. Updates and generates control diagrams, technical manuals and software printouts to provide accurate and redundant information and data archives.

•Communicates well, both verbal and written.

•Develops resources for improvements in equipment and assembly processes and stays abreast of changes in technology and means of application, as they relate to electrics, electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics.

•Develops and maintains interpersonal skills-maintains above average relationship with other plant personnel and vendors.

•Develops contractual documents and specifications for purchase of equipment and components.

•Support new Launch programs by managing APQP (GP3) project timing.

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

• B.S. degree in Engineering or 2-10 years working experience in electrical applications/design in a heavy manufacturing environment.

• Knowledge of electrics, electronics, pneumatics and hydraulics; ability to read, interpret, and create programmable controller logic, pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical schematics; exceptional troubleshooting and communications skills.

• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles/process such as pFMEA/Control Plans

• Technical knowledge of process capability, Gage and Tool Design Development

• Experience using tools such as 8D, Red-X, 5W, Six Sigma Green Belt

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working in a team environment
