Division Overview:

Crown’s Food Division is one of the primary manufacturers of food cans in the world. Our complete array of food packaging serves a variety of markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder and other dry food products. Location:

Based in one of our Food manufacturing facilities, preferably Hanover PA, Massillon OH, or Oshkosh WI or within close proximately to a major airport.

Position Overview:

The position will be part of our North American Food Division Quality Team providing hands-on involvement with the manufacturing processes related to Quality projects, audits and special assignments involving all aspects of the metal forming process and food filling process. 

Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Director QA, the Quality Assurance Engineer, duties would include but not be limited to the following:Design, initiate and implement Quality related projectsInvolvement with manufacturing line design, re-design, equipment installation, troubleshooting, product line trials and other operations support rolesAnalysis of production and quality problems and how they affect our customers as well  as providing assistance in implementing solutions to these problemsProvide training and direction in the start-up of new manufacturing processes, as well as leading plant electricians and operators as required to complete equipment installations and start-ups, and lead various in-plant improvement teamsActing as a liaison between the Corporate Quality and the manufacturing plantsRecommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within the equipment limitsEnsure effective communication between departments and shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules or any other relevant information and also effective communication between our plants and customersQuality control issues Applications of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in metal forming or high-speed manufacturing is a plus
  • Skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint as well as various CAD software
  • Proven problem solving skills and experience using analytical approaches to problems
  • Project management experience
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completion
  • Ability to work effectively both as an individual and in a team environment using collaborative methods
  • Ability to travel 80-90% of the job
  • Ability to relocate
  • Must be committed to ongoing personal training and development

Preferred Requirements

  • Certification in Six Sigma (Green, Black or Master Black Belt) desirable

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of quality systems and equipment within manufacturing setting
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively solve problems both on an individual and collaborative approach
  • Working knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of PC’s and software programs Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl  
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

 

Working Conditions

  • Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant environment as well as in an office.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic. 
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
