Kindle Content Protection team is looking for a high caliber and tested Quality Assurance Engineer to secure books delivered across devices. Our mission is to constantly improve the security of Kindle books and in turn protect the trust of content creators, rights holders and reading customers, reputation of our brand and profitability. We are looking for QA candidates experienced in testing services on functional and non-functional areas [usability, security and performance] with a strong coding skills. QA Engineer would work with multiple stakeholders across functions and geographies for ensuring the security of DRM solution shipped across millions of devices. QAE will work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation.

Quality Assurance Engineers at Amazon test cutting edge applications and products at the user level and code level, both manually and using automated tools. Our QAEs are not pure black box testers, they are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests with scripting and/or user-level automated tools. QAEs at Amazon are excellent individual contributors capable of taking up tasks from start to completion with minimal help. QAEs would be responsible for understanding the domain and the product in detail and coming up with the test strategy/planning, coming up with the test cases, driving the test case sign-off processes with the stakeholders, contributing to code level Unit tests, test execution and reporting.


Key job responsibilities
Your job responsibilities include but not limited to

1. Understanding features developed in Kindle DRM and develop test plans, test strategy, and test cases.
2. You are responsible for end-to-end product testing from working with PM/TPM to gather requirements, to working with development to thoroughly test, and gather post launch metrics for quality improvement.
3. You are responsible for identifying automation opportunities and build the right test framework
4. You are responsible for coordinating manual testing, perform non-functional testing, and execute/lead critical parts of testing.
5. You will work across other organizations who have similar testing needs. You shall use their tools/methods for our projects and share our best practices to other orgs for implementing.
6. You help to drive pre-mortem and post-mortem of projects, identify areas of improvement, and feedback to the team for implementing.
7. You will have an opportunity to work and understand the latest AWS tech and how we build services to solve business problems. You will not be a mere black box tester but rather look into various services that interfaces with each other to perform thorough testing (grey box).

A day in the life
As QAE you will understand the new features in content protection space to build test strategy, influence development of services with guardrails, and test plans. You work with both business leaders, our development team, and peer development teams to test the features. You identify opportunities for automation, plan, and implement it.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 4+ year of experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer
· Experience in manual testing
· Experience in automation testing
· Bachelor's Degree
· BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
· 5+ years of software testing experience
· Background in automation using Java, C++ or similar languages is a plus.
· Strong knowledge of QA methodology and tools
· Ability to understand technical specifications and analyze log files

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

. Strong knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with Demonstrated QA experience in an SDET or QAE role.
· Knowledge on testing frameworks and automation experience
· Reporting skills, proficient in creating status reports based on automation results
· Shows creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness
· Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate impacts and to understand business requirements.
· Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to track multiple test executions simultaneously and synthesize results.
· Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings.
