Avery Dennison is seeking a Quality Analytical Analyst to join Performance Tapes in Mt Juliet Tennessee. This position will be in the Quality group responsible for characterizing cleanliness performance of the Hard Disk Drive products. In this role, the successful candidate will conduct product performance testing and characterization, as well as develop and optimize test procedures and provide analyses to manufacturing and product development teams.  

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine analytical tests with FTIR, GC/MS, and IC.

• Conduct requested tests according to our standard procedures with high accuracy and precision.

• Create sample materials according to our standard procedures.

• Proactively develop and update test methods.

• Forecast promise date completion with all test requests, able to manage time efficiently to handle multiple parallel requests while ensuring on-time completion.

• Create and maintain technical documentation and reporting of data to the customer/colleague. 

• Able to handle multiple work streams concurrently.

• Cooperate/collaborate with different colleagues and functions within all Avery Dennison divisions and external parties (i.e. Marketing, other areas of R&D, Suppliers/Customers).

• Ensure that all actions comply with our safety and quality procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer/Materials Science and Engineering, or a related degree is preferred.

• Minimum 1-2 years of lab experience.

• Highly preferred is experience with GC/MS, FTIR, and IC

• Proficient computer skills (familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Docs platform). Preferred is experience with analytical software packages used with analytical equipment  

• Must demonstrate excellent problem solving skills coupled with creativity, versatility and analytical thinking in planning experiments to solve technical problems.

• Must possess excellent hands-on analytical science experimentation skills, including wet-lab skills. Prior experience in adhesives or plastics industries is an advantage.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to both summarize critical results and write in-depth technical reports. Fast learner, meticulous attention to detail and scientific curiosity.

• Ability to work independently, as well as in a team.

• Well-organized with a service oriented attitude.

• Can-do attitude: skilled in executing experiments and trials per instruction; demonstrated scientific acumen and strategic thinking for obtaining results.

• Skilled in making moderately complex mathematical computations.

• Proven experience in completing moderately complex technical assignments without immediate supervision, analyzing moderately complex data, and preparing effective reports with recommendations for further work.

• Skilled at interfacing effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.

• Capable of working in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

• Environmental awareness and safety conscious attitude.
